Arizona Chickens

So what all kind's of bird's do you have over there at your new place?
None, yet! We are painting and replacing the flooring. I have put in for some of rjohns39 barred hollands. I am also thinking that I will get some NNs for meat birds, but since I am in the city limits of Prescott, I can't keep cockerels.

You will have to find someone that has some POL pullet's then, to make sure that you won't get any roo's.

I do not mind eating the males. :drool It would be nice if they would be larger before they have to go to the freezer/BBQ.

As I breed and hatch over here, I'm always trying to figure out what to do with most of my NN boy's. I wish there was someone that wanted to come and get them for future eating. I see that you are also keeping an eye on the thread about crossing Red Ranger's.

Yes, I am interested in eating Red Rangers, too! I would come and get your boys . . . in about another month!

Nice to meet you. Since I am in Prescott, I am not the one to answer your questions about the heat, I try to avoid it!

Hello, and welcome! I'm a little south of Phoenix. I don't have any of the Maran's, as I like my egg's to be a light enough color to see what's happening inside when I candle them for hatching. I would imagine that they would do as well here as any other fully feathered breed. Make sure there's plenty of water and shade for your flock. If you see them panting alot, you can also put up a small set of mister's on a timer, or some sort of water for them to stand in.
