Arizona Chickens

Hello, and welcome! I'm a little south of Phoenix. I don't have any of the Maran's, as I like my egg's to be a light enough color to see what's happening inside when I candle them for hatching. I would imagine that they would do as well here as any other fully feathered breed. Make sure there's plenty of water and shade for your flock. If you see them panting alot, you can also put up a small set of mister's on a timer, or some sort of water for them to stand in.

Thank you! And thank you for the info. I’ve got the mister going every day & have been using silicone loaf pans (thanks Amazon!) to freeze ice blocks for their water. I’ve got some pretty hardy girls, didn’t know if Marans are a more sensitive breed. Makes sense about the candling, probably much more difficult to tell. I haven’t hatched yet.. but I’m thinking about trying!

Hi! I have two roos looking for a new home, they’re each about two months old. One is a Japanese bantam and the other is a d’uccle bantam, the feed store misgendered them and we can’t keep them due to the city regulations (we live in Phoenix). We’d prefer it if they are kept together as they seem quite attached since they’ve been together since week one. Let me know if you’re interested or want more info (:

Hatching is addictive, so consider that a warning. Chicken math can add up very quickly, also. :gig

Hello, and welcome to our thread. Good luck in being able to re-home them with someone who is doing the bantam's. For me, the only bantam's that I happen to be doing are the silkies.

LOL! I’ve heard that.. Do you let hens do the hatching or incubate them? Curious as to what is typically more successful in your experience?

Hello! I don’t raise bantams either but will see if anyone up my way (north) would like to adopt them! Good luck :)
