Arizona Chickens

I am so excited today!! I made a DYI incubator for 20 eggs and everything is set up with the eggs. I have a double yolk egg from my sisters leghorn hen. The rooster is either a Barred rock or a Maran. Starting weight of the egg is 88 grams the other eggs are from her leghorn, Maran, Buff Brahma, Easter Eggers and Rhode Island Red hens.

I have 3 thermometers at different spots in the box and 2 hygrometers. The light is plugged into the thermostat I use for my brooder. I plan on rocking the entire box so I don’t have to disturb the eggs.

@Lark60 Good luck with that double yolker egg! I'm not a hatcher. I have been told the double yolkers are the hardest to hatch. Keep up posted.

As some of you know we are relocating back to Pennsylvania. I’m already here and we are getting ready to put the AZ home on the market. We found a house we really like and so I contacted a realtor to show it to me. He seemed ok so I signed a contract with him as a buyer. I took my sister with me 2 weeks ago to see the house again for a second set of eyes. I wanted to see another house on the following Monday and he asked her if she would be coming. She told him she had to work and he said he could make it later which I though was weird. That house ended up getting a contract on it so didn’t go. That evening he text me that my sister was a nice gal and was glad to get to meet her. She is married. Last weekend I met him to see 3 more houses and the first thing he said was “where is your sister”. She was out of town with her job. She called her a hot mess 3 times and me once. Just became very weird so I had to fire him. He starts texting me asking what he did. Granted he is married too. He would also make comments when we would be in the basements of houses that when my hubby is bad I can put him in these basement rooms. I’m just glad he is gone.

I wanted to try and hatch a double yolk egg so when I picked up the eggs from my sisters flock I was tickled to see a big egg. These chicks are a birthday present for my daughter who just moved to a 40 acre farm.

It look's like he doesn't respect his own marriage, let alone anyone else's. You don't need to be trying to deal with someone like him. I cracked an egg open tonight and it's fertile from my new Naked Neck cockerel! My 2 remaining chick's are still ok out there in the grow out pen, so it must have just been that one snake that I took care of. The only problem is that these last 2 chick's need to go and live with @Parront because they are both boy's!

Only 2 chicks left, and both are boys! Sorry -- NOT! I would have to make them a little grow out tractor, chicken house still needs work. Roof is leaking where the tree damaged it, and we thought we had patched it well enough. Weeeelll -- not well enough for the last monsoon that dumped 3" on us in less than one hour! Might make a pretty good duck house . . .

That snake ate the 2 girls, and didn't get around to eating the 2 boy's. I don't need these boy's though.
