Arizona Chickens

:jumpy :jumpy Lucky is getting 4 bunk mates in the morning, have a friend who has silkie chicks hatching tonight.. so he'll have companions, once the others hatch, I'll move him in with them so that there is less danger to the silkies as they grow.. :) I've still got 6 silkie eggs in my incubator that get candled tonight, along with the 22 others, Americuna mix and NN's.

I've never given a chick a teddy bear..lol, one of the ladies in a FB Chicken group I belong too, suggested it, Lucky has a serious set of lungs..lol.

Afternoon everyone, just curious about your thoughts on diatomaceous earth. I’ve seen some debate on it and was wondering if it’s worth buying and keeping on hand :)
Hi there. In my opinion it's a waste. It does nothing if it gets wet which means it does nothing fir you to add it to feed or spread it for bugs. It creates a lot of dust and can harm your lungs and/or your chickens lungs if inhaled. Chickens can be very vigorous when they scratch the ground and create dust very easily.

DE sounds like a miracle worker the way it’s advertised to seem like it’ll solve almost every problem you can think of haha, but once I started looking into it I couldn’t really find any factual statements about its properties, just people who swear by it ;) thanks for the input!

That's what I found too. There is a benefit as far as some bugs and it does have a drying property but that's really about it.

@starri33 Good luck with the silkies!
Thank you, I am hoping that chicken math doesn't strike with this breed, lol, Judy the lady I got them from started off with just wanting a few for show.. well, she's now got 7 coops with their own runs, hatches around 20 per batch, these guys were some she hatched last night and she's got another batch to hatch tomorrow night..lol.. As a rule, she sells out as fast as they can break out of their shells and she also sell's hatching eggs. No show girls though.
