Arizona Chickens

:hit :hit My hospice foster passed today, about 4:30.. now I have to find out what I need to do, do I need to bring her back to the shelter or will I be allowed to bury her, had someone tell me that they stuff the animals in a freezer and then when the freezer gets full, they take them to the dump, I don't want that for her, We have a wash that runs through the corner of our property, the little piece of land that is cut off from the rest of the property would make a good place to bury her. Maybe put a Tree as a headstone for her.
It never gets easier, but hopefully you'll be allowed to give her a final resting place. you did a very good, very hard thing being her last, loving home.

I love your birds! How old are they there? Do you keep them indoors?

Are seabrights similar in size, enough to be caged together? I think they are pretty too. I like having flying birds.

They are just over 1 year old. I keep them together with flock in coop. I only keep chickens as pets, being a city slicker where I live. No roos allowed in my area.
My current total is 8 hens. 1 RIR LF. 2 Polish LF. 2 OEGH banties, 1 Japaneese Bantam, and the 2 Seramas.
I have had Sebrights in the past. They were somewhat larger bantams than my OEGH, or the rest of banties I have now. I did like that breed, and my Silver Sebright lived for 13 years. My longest living chicken.
I could have gotten silkied seramas, but I preferred regular feathers. I live in cold winter climate, so preferred feathers over fur :gig on my chickens.
here is a pix of all my current flock.

and here are my almost daily dinner guests/visitors. Mallards. They live along a creek about 2 blocks away. Eating whatever the bird-feeder drops. The white one is a PLASTIC one:old

So sorry to hear this, but you were aware that the end would arrive.:hugs I suggest you return kitty back to Earth. Location you mention sounds ideal. You will always have comforting memories that you provided the best for the journey to that rainbow bridge.
I also bury all my pets in the back yard. I do cover the spot with cement patio blocks to prevent other diggers from removing. After a while, I am able to remove blocks, and no digging occurs.
Planting a tree is a very nice option.

She'll have a nice little place there in the corner of the property, I'll make sure to put rocks on her grave where the frigging coyotes can't dig her up. Find a nice tree or bush to plant there.
That sounds much better than being dumped in a freezer and thrown in the trash. I'm sorry starri :hugs

So is de-crowing actually illegal? I was reading, and it didn't seem so bad. Just a small slit in the wind pipe so the air escapes before they crow. Definitely need a vet though.
I have no idea, but if the no crow collar doesn’t work the person we got him from said they will take him back. However, Adam is #2 cockerel & he is a sweetie.

You know its funny you clarify the duck is plastic. There is a manmade pond/ lake nearby that has frequent visitors, but theres been a few times we were mesmerized by what turns out to be plastic swans floating around. And those coyote cut outs! Ugh!!

Ok, i didn't realize the sebrights were a little larger... but the age is a plus to me. I actually swore off anymore pets after heart breaking dog deaths last summer, it is too hard for me anymore to deal w their passing. But my kids really needed pets and the little animal friendships, so ill have to go through almost all the new pets dying probably just as the kids fly the coop. Ill have to schedule myself a good monthlong vacation when the time finally arrives.

What is LF (Polish and RIR), and what neck of the woods are you in? I wish i could go in the yard w my chickies, but they will definitely fly away. Well except the silkies!

LF means Large Fowl. I like that Dylan might out live me, is is so sad when my dogs died.

FYI, Hoovers has more andalusians available for 9/15. I'm getting more of them because they do so well in the heat compared to anything I've had. And they're being very good about my lower fences! I actually had to confine them to a 10 x 10 run for two solid weeks plus when we moved here and they did great. They also have sapphire gems and midnight majesty, because I canceled those two to get more of the andalusians.

Andalusians sure do look nice in the pictures I've seen. As you can see, I am partial to grey birds. If only they had red tails!
