Arizona Chickens

I have 4 Polish that really don't go with the rest of the flock they arrived with as chicks April 2. They are small but I've never had Polish before so don't really know if they are standard size or banty. I'm willing to give them to someone who can give them more attention. I keep them apart from the non-Polish. At least 2 have started laying very recently but I can't guarantee that all of them are hens since one of them was trying to crow back at the 8 week mark. I haven't heard any crow recently. Let me know if she's interested in these Polish - 3 are White Crested Black Polish and one is Golden Polish (this one is very tame and friendly because it was kept for a couple of weeks by separately when I had to give (him?) electrolytes/poultry cell when (he?) was little -don't know if he/she but it has a stringy hairdo more like a male, but never heard this one crow.

I would be interested in buying them off you if you're not too far away I'm hoping.

I'm in Chino Valley near Prescott and sometimes I'm in Mesa. Right now Polish and all my flocks are in CV since the heatwave started. I've not moved anyone back to Mesa yet. Let me know.

I'm in Phoenix but if you still have them when you come back to mesa I'd be interested. That's awesome that your flock move with you away from the heat!

I was already tired of putting ice out when it started to be 110s so the week it was forecast at 117 I said I'm moving everyone! I know some who had a lot of losses to the heat so I think I made the right decision. CV is just supposed to be retirement property but with remote working and heatwave it made sense to be in CV if possible (even though the old mobile home just slightly better than camping).

I stopped off at Tractor Supply today, and they had plenty of chicken feed. I asked one of the guys there if he'd heard about a shortage of chicken feed, and he said it's not really hitting this part of the country.

A young man who's into 4-H and likes chickens a lot was telling me about his 4-H project. He did an extensive study of different commercial chicken foods, and his results showed DuMor brand to be the best of the ones he tested. So when I went to Tractor Supply today, I bought a 50 pound bag of DuMor 16% layer pellets, so just in case chicken feed becomes hard to get here, I'll have my hands on some.

I bought a 5 pound bag several days ago in case any of the eggs in the incubator hatch. Nothing's moving and there was a temperature spike last night, so it's unlikely.

I just recandled a few, and two of them that were spots with veining are now larger spots with veining, so maybe I should concentrate on a brooder instead of the coop this week.
