Arizona Chickens

Today I just started building my chicken coop.
It will be 10x10 and very open air under 2 big shade trees.
I only have this week to finish it.
My two chicks are starting to outgrow their brooder!
I think they are about 3 to 3.5 weeks old (Delaware and a Barred Rock).

Oh the cheesecakes are for the humans the chickens will have the raw pumpkin

Im up to 9 eggs!! Nala is laying daily! Still waiting on the other two to get going.

Then you'd better get 2 of them. That way you can eat one of them on the way to the post office and still mail me the other one. That should solve the problem nicely, huh?

I never went back to that feed store (the closest one to me in Mesa). The clerks were too busy taking inventory to care about chicks when I told them they needed do something to at least keep kids from seeing dead chicks.

Please don’t take this as a defense for the clerks at Pratt’s. I think the kids that work in the store are used to chick death and honestly if you keep chickens they get sick and die. Parents these days try to hide the reality of life from their kids and we get little snowflakes as a result. That being said, I’m unimpressed with Pratt’s. Their stores are dirty and they allow yard birds to wander in and out of the store which isn’t good biosecurity. I was in the store in Glendale and there were chickens in their haystacks and their chicks were in filthy browsers. No thanks.
