The ducks are 28 days, too easy to just mark a calendar! Same with 21 days, 3 weeks. I do not want to track each egg separately, with a pedigree. I really want the Barred Hollands to lay bigger eggs! So, I may not hatch any this year, until I see who lays good size eggs as an adult hen. I am thinking of ordering another batch of them from the breeder in TN. They lay nicer whiter eggs than the Sandhill girls. But, the Sandhill birds are very hardy, a little smaller, but I think the eggs are larger, just a light tan. They are younger, next year it will be a better comparison.Yes I agree it may be overkill for just a couple of hatches. Some things you can do include set up an intended hatch date and then it does the math counting backwards for diff types of poultry (not just chkn), calc hatch rates, set reminders to set eggs (candle, lockdown, etc) for that intended hatch date. Also you can export your records to a spreadsheet.
I wish it was full of egg money! My duck egg customer gave me $10 for the last dozen, she likes it that I wash them. I could never imagine selling them unwashed.Hey, I need me a chicken hen egg money jar like that one!![]()

I'm in AZ but up north. To cool my hens I put out flat trays of water-the heavy breeds especially stand in the water to cool off. Also water down the earth in shady spots-they will scratch & mix the soil & turn into a sort of moist dust bath.Any AZ chicken people out there? I am looking for some advice on raising chicks in the desert. I'm in Mesa. Does it get too hot out here? I have four 20 day old chicks, 3 Buff Orps and 1 leghorn. Do we need to do anything special here

Yes, but these are to eat! Duck poo, yeeech!Well, if someone is buying them as hatching egg's, it's best not to wash them, but to pick out the egg's that look cleaner. You need the hen's bloom on them when you are hatching them.
