Apparently they're portable enough to be used for camping so maybe you could pack it up to get away from the smoke or wait till it clears. I did some math and they are about 60 inches in diameter. They heat up to 1000 degrees C (1832 degrees F). At those temps, you better keep the chickens away lest they be tempted to perch on it!
