Solar cookers are something much in use. Arizona has ideal conditions for one to work since not very cloudy most days.

Apparently they're portable enough to be used for camping so maybe you could pack it up to get away from the smoke or wait till it clears. I did some math and they are about 60 inches in diameter. They heat up to 1000 degrees C (1832 degrees F). At those temps, you better keep the chickens away lest they be tempted to perch on it!

Ouch! I don't think that I would want to try to roost on it neither.
