Arizona Chickens

Thank you! I'll get some when I go into town tomorrow. They should be OK in the incubator until early tomorrow afternoon, shouldn't they?

They should be, as long as there is enough room in there. They need to stay in there anyway's until they are dry and fluffed up. You could still dip the beak's in some of the vitamin and electrolytes mixed with water in the meantime every so often, to help them to gain strength.

Will do. :)

But I needed your advice on the peroxide!

These chicks look more stout and less skinny than the one from last time. They're livelier, too. :D

The typical 3% hydrogen peroxide concentration found in stores can be used as a disinfectant, or you can dilute it to a 0.5% concentration, which still has some effectiveness, using a mixture of 2.5 parts water and 0.5 parts 3% hydrogen peroxide. Spray it on to clean the incubator. Wipe to dry with a clean rag or towel.

It's 3%. I sprayed it with a little more than half hydrogen peroxide and the rest water. Then I sanitized the heating plate and put it in to let it get warmed up before tomorrow. Both chicks were face planted and sleeping, so I didn't wake them to give them electrolytes. Unless you tell me otherwise, I'll do it in the morning.

Hoping more hatch!

I only use laundry bleach as sanitizer. Best to work with it outdoors and avoid breathing vapors. When it dries, ALL IS GOOD,,, When I do an semi-annual coop cleanout, When all bedding is removed,,,,,, I spray bleach liberally like to "KINGDOM COME" :old :gig,, after a few hours,, all is dry and evaporated, and "SUPER CLEAN AND SANITARY"
DW uses a dilute version of bleach in a spray bottle. She sprays our wooden cutting boards after she cuts meat, or tenderizes pork cutlets. (Chicken cutlets also)
We have many cutting boards, and designate certain ones for meat use only. (even though they are sanitized)
