Arizona Chickens

I know, and it was a shame that he turned out that way. What breed do you have?
I have welsummer’s, black copper marans, and double silver laced barnevelder’s.

We have a lot of land we are trying to heal / reforest/ pasture/ farm/ and create orchards on so we figured raising some heritage breeds amongst all the other systems going on would be helpful for fertility and sustainability.

I have some silverudds blue’s coming in March with a few other surprise breeds.

Good luck with your plan's, and welcome to our AZ. state thread!

Thankyou! And Thankyou all for being knowledgeable and nice about answering questions. We kind of dove in headfirst to farm life.
If you haven't seen the links at bottom of BYC pages here they are (or scroll all the way down to bottom of this page)...
Some good stuff there. Also YT channels like Justin Rhodes, Weed em and Reap, Greg Judy and so many more. I'm sure you have your favorites.

@CaroleW How is Roger doing up there in your current weather?
Roger is doing great! And his son with the Wyandotte hen is huge! It's been down to about 17F overnite a couple of nites but everyone either has enclosed roosts, windblocks and a roof to sleep under along with feather coats. Only dustings of snow so far so I spread straw to keep feet out of mud/ice. It's mostly in 40-55F during day so they get sunny and warm before roosting. And heated dog water bowls are in each coop.

Did his son have a naked neck too?
