Arizona Chickens

Been a busy week. Got a new Java peacock. He's looking a little rough at the moment but nothing that good care shouldn't fix 🤞.View attachment 3467278View attachment 3467279This is my girl he's going in with showing what he should look like down the road.View attachment 3467281View attachment 3467282
And my shipment of silver spangled hamburgs came along with one Yokohama and a surprise polish chick as the extra.View attachment 3467285
The hamburgs are fiesty, bold babies! Just a kick in the pants to watch.
How beautiful! I wish I could have Peacock and a Peahen, maybe someday. I have no secure area for that type of bird yet and too many predators.
Are your SS Hamburgs pullets or straght run? I have one hen that came in an assorted layer package (but she turned out cross-beak) not sure if she lays many eggs but she's still going.

Ahhh so cute! All your babies are precious! I can't wait to see an updated pic of your peacock! He is going to be STUNNIINNNGGG! I kind of miss when we lived in California and my neighbors had peacocks. The first night we moved in next door to them though, my parents thought some lady was screaming for help and almost called 911. It was a good time !

Yes, they are a beautiful bird, but they do scream like someone is getting hurt. About 5 years ago, there was a pair of them that flew up on top of my coop sometimes. I don't know where they came from or where they went.

Got 10 girls and 4 boys... hopefully enough to have at least a couple really good ones🤞❤️ Read that they're very active, flighty birds but lay young and keep going when old. I'm not seeing any flightiness yet but wow are they active! At two days old they were already trying to jump up on the edge of the brooder when I open it to care for them 😂

🤣🤣🤣 I remember the first time I heard a peacock call...I swear it was screaming "help me"! Mine tend to holler "pea-coo". I've always wondered if the different calls are learned.

Wow, the peacocks are gorgeous! There’s a park in the next town that has several that hang out. They get up into the trees and are very calm around people. I love to visit. Are you going to breed them?

Haha! I had to go to YouTube and listen to some peacock calls. This one really does sound like a woman's voice calling for help!

Just took a new chick out of the incubator and moved it down into the brooder. Hopefully another will hatch soon to keep it company.

Well my roommate just asked me if you are going to be selling any of the chicks (pullets). 😮 I don't know where she thinks we would keep them as the coop parts are still sitting in the yard and the coop is about number four in the list of our current projects! We are trying madly to get everything done before it gets crazy hot.

Well, so far only one chick has hatched, and this one's a mixed breed from when my next door neighbor borrowed my rooster for a few day's to breed his Naked Neck hen's. I can already tell that it is a girl by the "V" on it's head with no white spots, and the color of the chipmunk markings down it's back. She doesn't have a naked neck on her though. I'm waiting to see if her other 2 half sister's or brother's will hatch to keep her company.

I do have other eggs in the incubator that will be hatching at a later date, and those will be my pure Bielefelder's. Yes, I do sell them now as I have enough of them for my flock.
