@City farm went to set up the aerogarden and broke it. Oops.

On the good side... I'm sure I can repair it. I've had it over 10 years and used to have it set up all the time. To date I've replaced the light with a different cheaper light that fits inside the original hood, replaced the pump and the tube from it and this time I need to replace the piece of plastic that the tube connects to. Going to use the lid from a tube of power grab construction adhesive and some marine sealant. Blue circles where it broke and the orange tube is what I'll use to repair.

So anyhow, here's the whole set up. Light goes up and down easy, that's the lowest setting.

I love the aerogarden for starting cuttings. I've never really used it for growing veggies so no idea how it is for that. But for cuttings it's worth every penny. It has water that flows constantly over the growing medium (I usually use rock wool blocks) and that keeps oxygen constantly flowing over the new root zone. For woody, harder to root trees and shrubs it makes it easy. I take softwood cuttings with an angle cut just below a node, dip in rooting hormone, split the soaked rock wool and wrap it around the cut, then tuck it into one of the aerogarden baskets. I've started cottonwood, Arizona ash, fig, mulberry, Barbados cherry, and every kind of rose I can get a cutting from...I even got a florist shop rose to root in it. That rose is three years old now.
Here's a pic of where the water flows out into the planting basket.

I have tried a cheaper aerogarden knock off and it doesn't work the same. The knockoff had a pump that periodically comes on and circulates just the water in the reservoir. The aerogarden has a set up so the water flows continuously over the growing medium. The knock off will grow woody cuttings, but not as well as the aerogarden. If I can't repair it this time, I'll definitely buy another. Well worth the cost. This is the first repair where something flat out broke...all the rest could have been done with replacement parts aerogarden sells...I just choose to go a cheaper route on replacing parts as they wore out. For over ten years old that's pretty good value inspite of the high cost. Hope thats enough info to help you decide...happy to answer any questions if it didn't.
Editing to add that the knockoff has a pump built into the base. This version of the aerogarden at least, has a pump that sits in the bottom so it can be replaced easily with any small fountain pump when it goes out. I've had to replace the pump twice.
