Arizona Chickens

Thank you for taking them in, and I hope that it all goes well for you. Nothing like chicken and duck wrangling in the heat, huh? Tony cared about them, but now that he has passed on Pam want's nothing to do with any of them.

I hope that your daughter will be able to use those clothes that I sent back with you.
Right!

She will love them! Also you may want to make sure those poor puppies get a home.. Pam was trying to get us to take them home too…

One of my Bielefelder girls seems to be struggling in the heat? They just went to roost. The noisy gal... what do you make of it? (Be sure to have sound on.)

I did decide to put the misters on overnight tonight. I usually keep them off at night but it's just so hot out there.

I can barely hear it.

Hot is right. I have finally figured out that if I want to be able to see any rain, I am going to have to drive to it.

I can't tell which ones clucking but not used to hearing that a roost time. Hope she's doing well

The clucking one seems fine this morning. But one of my babies appears to have an impacted crop! Never dealt with this before.

I'm massaging it at the moment. Any other suggestions?

I've always syringe fed birds oil for an impacted crop. Oil, water and charcoal. Usually just the oil and a massage does the trick. I isolate them with just water with charcoal mixed in and no feed til the crop empties. The oil moves things along, charcoal helps fight any souring, and with holding feed til empty helps to fight souring and speeds crop emptying too.

Editing to add that you syringe feed by dripping a few drops at a time in the side of the beak. Make sure the beaks tipped slightly down so they don't inhale it. You can try mixing the oil with the water and charcoal and dip the beak too so they drink it themselves.
