So sad what happened there. Homes, jobs... everything gone. The largest banyan in the US was one of the casualties. It covered an entire city block, rough 2/3rds of an acre and was 60 feet high. Planted in 1843?...or there abouts. It had 47 main trunks....on one tree.
I know it's nothing compared to the human loss...it just kind of symbolizes the scale of what happened there to me.
The death count there is up to 89 now, and they are still looking for more people that are still missing. Many pet's and other animal's were burned up in that fire too. Very sad.

I remember walking under that tree (though it's hard to see it as "one tree" for all it's branches that go down like tree trunks). Thankfully, I've read that they are hoping that the roots may still be good and it won't completely die. Its survival would be a great morale builder for the survivors who are left with rebuilding their city.

What's going on on the border of Wyoming and Nebraska? Is there a fire?

That can very well be. I read on another thread,,, (gardening) a member that lives in around Lincoln Nebraska stating smoke problems outdoors,,, as she tried to do garden work.
There are a lot of fire's happening now, and many of them seem to be started by humans.
