Arizona Chickens

I picked her up and checked but didn't see anything amiss or any red on her fluffy feathers back there. She is molting (and still laying).
When there is blood on an egg, it's a pretty good indication that something is going on at the vent. She might have had a broken egg inside that the bloody egg pushed out.

Any reason for concern, or anything further to watch out for?

This is from my most consistent layer. She's 1 1/2 yrs old. She gives me an egg every day.
Are all her eggs this way???? or just todays egg?
Occasionally I would see a red streak on one of my LF eggs. I assumed that it was EGG TOO LARGE for size of vent. :idunno
That chicken is just fine, and I did not do anything to try and correct. Not sure there is a corrective procedure for such.

It was just this once & was a normal size egg for her. Will check tomorrow's egg. She's acting normal otherwise.

I recommend AeroMist (www.aeromist.com) for the Phoenix area. They do have a fairly affordable misting system (150 psi misting rig) BUT we came to the realization that the 300 psi system is better suited for day long use. We were using the 150 psi system for day long use but discovered that the pump is not really designed/suited for that kind of use (at best 2-3 hrs a day).

Sounds pretty fancy.
I just bought a misting kit off Amazon along with a cheap water timer. Total cost about $40.

How is she today?
Thank you for asking. The day after that bloodied egg, she did not lay. But the next day she laid a normal egg with no sign of blood. Wait. My days are all mixed up, lol. It may have been 2 days of not laying. In any case, she seems back to laying normally now.

On another note, I, on the other hand, am now the bloodied one. My cat managed to scratch up my face this morning as thanks for rescuing her from the neighbors dogs. She escaped out the cat screen (an anchor wire broke) and I found her balancing on top of the neighbor's 6' chain link fence. They have several dogs that were barking & jumping on their side of the fence. She couldn't get down. I got her down and was carrying her back across the front yard when she suddenly attacked me 😧 and ran directly to our front door.

Hopefully your egg problem is over.

Better fix the cat's escape route.
