Arizona Chickens

Hopefully your egg problem is over.

Better fix the cat's escape route.
Indeed. It's a retractable screen that stays retracted most of the year. It finally got cool enough to use it again. We've had it a few years. Guess the summer heat deteriorated the string that kept the bottom secured (and the cat inside). Now we just won't be able to use it until we get it replaced.

Yes, this summer heat is enough to destroy everything or to kill. Could your string have gotten wet in the rain, and therefore weakened it also?

Thank you for asking. The day after that bloodied egg, she did not lay. But the next day she laid a normal egg with no sign of blood. Wait. My days are all mixed up, lol. It may have been 2 days of not laying. In any case, she seems back to laying normally now.

On another note, I, on the other hand, am now the bloodied one. My cat managed to scratch up my face this morning as thanks for rescuing her from the neighbors dogs. She escaped out the cat screen (an anchor wire broke) and I found her balancing on top of the neighbor's 6' chain link fence. They have several dogs that were barking & jumping on their side of the fence. She couldn't get down. I got her down and was carrying her back across the front yard when she suddenly attacked me 😧 and ran directly to our front door.
Glad your kitties home safe ❤️. Hope your face isn't too bad and heals fast!
