Arizona Chickens

Hey. I'm in Gilbert, about Cooper & Elliott. Anybody want to meet for coffee or tea one evening a month? There is a new coffee shop there. I haven't been yet but like to support local business.

Oh my. But I'm glad your kids feel bad. They should, huh? They will love the next ones all the more. Would'nt it be bad if they didn't care at all? I worry too much...

So I let the chicks out of their brooder box to free range... I know... big mistake.. but it's so crowded in there....

Any ways... I have a chair by their brooder where I feed them bread, DS#4 gets home, all the chicks are in their box and a HUGE Hawk is sitting on the back of the chair, watching the opening of the box!

DS#4 doesn't know what the laws are and he got out his air gun. The pellet hit the bottom of the hawk and made feathers fly, but it flew off. He thinks it won't be back, I think it will because I think it was the one that got my naked neck.

I guess I can only let them out when I am nearby.

CRYSTAL!: those little pullets I got from you are just so wonderful. they come running to me whenever they see me! They let me pick them up. I love it.

The awesome little polish mix. It was still debatable if it was a pullet or roo

I finally googled Icelandics. How awesome!

My chickens are boogers! I thought egg production had slowed because it was winter time. Then I found a stash of eggs under the hen house. The have been hiding them! I blocked it off and got 6 eggs today! And, the Unremarkable Aloha Project Chicken That Didn't Make the Cut (the one that came out red with no spots) is laying small olive green eggs!

pastrymama *hugs* I'm sorry to hear the bad news. I've had my fingers crossed.

Count me in. Just let me know when and where. Now, we just need to find someone who knows how!! I remember a really good thread with lots of pictures, going to see if I can find it again. I won't have any chickens to process until late summer (if my hatching goes well). If we can get this together, maybe we could all go in on a hatchery order for some meat chicks to raise and process.

My neighbor told there are a couple of places in Prescott that will process birds. I haven't checked myself yet.

My schedule is pretty open. Weekends work fine for me. Let me know.

TT! :
