Are they hatchery stock turkey?

none of my turkeys are hatchery stock they were bought from private breeders
i bought them from a breeder in california, i dont buy from hatcheries
we had to drive to california to get the turkeys, and they cost me 20 dollars each
at 1 week old plus the gas it cost to drive to california and back to arizona,
with gas and the cost of the turkeys then ended up costing me
a total of $36.67 each thanks have a great weekend

TT! :

This is simultaneously the most hideous and the most awesome thing I have ever seen:
http://www.amazon.com/Divatex-Fashions-Royal-Opulence-Satin/dp/B000RH1758/ref=wl_mb_hu_m_T2_2_dp

I added them to my wish list.

I really, really wanted satin sheets once. I bought them and quickly became sick of my pillows sliding off the bed. Then, I forgot about that and bought a set for one of my daughters. The poor girl woke up each morning with no pillow, no top sheet, and no blanket. They are sooooo pretty, yet sooo impractical. Maybe you will have better luck than me.

, the first breeder that started raising the pure chocolate turkeys
in new mexico made this breed , they wanted to produce as manny chocolate turkeys
so they saw with crossing what breeds they would give them better fertility
and wanted the chocolate color to be in the next generations
so as they same objective lets have the chocolate gene in the years
to come, so they then some of them were send to california to the breeder
i got them from, so its just not any turkey like the ones you see at the feed stores
you wont find these at hatcheries, because they were produce by private breeders
so they have a story how they were produce but only 100 our left
i check the survey from the armerican livestock conservatory watch list
and they said only 100 our left, its the reason this year we will try to hatch
as many turkeys as we can, what i ask is that if you purchase these
turkeys you will try your best to conserve this breed,
my family did not understand why none of the mottled chocolate
turkeys or auburn became turkey dinner, because they are endangered especies
they should not become turkey dinner, blue slate and standard bronze
they are alot of turkeys so those can become dinner but not the mottled chocolate
or auburn turkeys

i know how to make a tiger bronze but it takes
alot of time to get the final result, look at the auburn and mottled chocolate
blue palm and chocolate palm, i know which colors to cross to get the same results
it took me a year of studying turkey genetics to know the answers
some colors can take 2 years to produce or 5 years to get certain colors
some turkeys on the website its going to give you different genes
but they have a certain order and also the website will not tell you which order they
have to be breed, they even say colors so the people will not know what to cross
on the blue slate turkeys their children do 4h with their goats, they might do 4h with turkeys also

NoSkiveez Thank You so much for the compliment hope You have a great hatch!! Gallo del Cielo When You want some eggs or chicks just let me know!!

turkeybreeder, that's really cool. I enjoyed having turkeys years ago, although have never checked into endangered turkeys.

2 questions for anyone that can enlighten me...
(1) large hatcheries sell endangered turkeys?
(2) if so, are the hatchery ones inferior or something?

Yeah, 3 of my TJ eggs are developing! STill makes them $1 apiece though. lol

5pinkarrows, that's been my experience with satin sheets as well. Never again, unless it's with a regular pillowcase, plus I had to wear socks to keep from snagging the sheets.

Pastrymama, I'm sorry to hear about your chickie.

Cluckin crazy, congrats on the egg!

When I was a kid we had satin sheets and satin pjs and we would slide across the bed and fall off on the floor on the other side. All fun and games til someone puts a hole in the wall.

Some may differ in opinion. My opinion on hatchery stock birds, weather its chicken or turkey. I prefer private stock over hatchery stock. While I do still have a hand full of bird that ARE hatchery stock, I'm working on moving past hatchery stock and working toward private stock. Having said this, I have a box of hatchery chicks coming Monday. Nothing better than being a self hypocrite. Lol. I had placed my order prior to finding what I wanted from a private breeder. I just wish I had looked a little harder before ordering them. I'm sure they will be nice birds.
