As soon as the girls are laying regularly enough to make it a worth while shipping them. Im wanting to get eggs from two people.

With the salmons, I found someone who has blue faverolles. And I really really want those. I'm just waiting for my freeloaders to start earning their keep.

TT! :

Did they arrest him? :p

He's the good guy! It was funny. I had just said to my son "My friends husband works for Boarder Patrol in that town" and 2 seconds later they said his name and showed him cuffing the bad guy.

Pastrymama, yes, that's why I'm getting more egg layers. Some are for fun, but most are for production. I had one each of 3 different cochins ordered, but canceled them for now, they were $4.64 each I think. A little pricey for chicks just for fun. I'll get them later.

I want to thank you again for the referral! It is working out to be a great deal! I think I actually came out ahead this last week.

That's a first. I'm hoping once I can get grass or weeds to grow better that I have to buy even less feed. I'm going to set up the greenhouse tomorrow if it isn't too windy, (finally) and try and get birdseed planted. The chickens and ducks all like it, and it grows so well.

Hi everybody I need your help!
I raised 2 pullets for my sister. They are almost 20 weeks old now. This weekend I took them to her in Tucson and it doesn't seem to be going well.
She has 3 1+ year old hens that are not being nice. They corner the little ones and bully them around. If they are out in the general yard everything is OK, but as soon as we put them in the coop or chicken yard the the big ones terrorize the little ones. The little ones jump up into my arms to get away from them. We have been keeping them mostly separated with supervised visits.

I tried to put the little ones on the perch with the others tonight and even in the dark the big ones attacked them and tried to get them off the perch.
So last night and tonight we put the big ones in the coop and the little ones in a cage in the chicken yard.
I have to go home to Phoenix tomorrow and I don't know whether to leave the little ones here to tough it out or take them back home with me and try again later.
I feel so responsible for these chickens and would feel terrible if something bad happened to them.
What do you think? Is this normal?
What's the chance that the little ones will actually get hurt or killed?
What else can we do or will it just take time?

I'm exhausted! I set up my new watering system today. It runs through all 8 of my pens. It is a 55 gallon plastic barrel with PVC connected to it and 2 water nipples in each pen. I'm oober excited about it. I was using buckets, but they kept getting nasty because the chickens would knock the lids off. Plus, they were only 4 gallons each max. Some were only 2.5 gal. I'll take a pic for y'all tomorrow so you can see what I did. Hopefully it will cut back my watering and cleaning duties!
