Arizona Chickens

I like bringing them inside to take pictures of them. They have a harder time running away from the camera.

My husband was less than pleased. Especially when it flew from the couch to the top of the kitchen cabinets and wouldn't come down.

to the new people!

Most of the prickly pear cacti (cactuses?) in my yard look dead! Did anyone else lose cactus?

I lost my urns of elephant food and my big ficus tree.

My DH would lose it if any chickens crossed the threshold! You're BRAVE!
Back to yard work!

HAHA, no yard work for me! I had a wisdom tooth pulled! I get to relax!

I'm on doctor's orders to not even pick up my 2 year old. AND they gave me a list of recommended foods which includes (I swear to god) "cheesecake with fruit sauce"

CHEESECAKE!

I'm starting to think I should get a tooth extracted every month.

We kinda got over the whole chickens in the house thing, since the brooder is in the living room, dust and all, but as soon as they are able to fly out of the box they go to the bigger one outside. Plus the boys daily have a chicken they are playing with in the house. They just have to clean up after it, and they don't get to free range in the house.

As for that chicken math thing.... don't even get me started! Those that say they have to think a minute when asked how many chickens they have... I can answer right away, " I have no clue!"

If anyone is interested in ducks, I need to get rid of some. The mom is a brown runner duck, and dad is something else, a little bigger and white. The offspring are mottled, mostly dark with patches of white, have green bills to start with then the green wears off to turn yellow. They don't fly. The feathers have a black to green to blue hue depending on the light. They are pretty funny, but 30 is tooooooooooo many. And if they go to freezer camp, that is fine too. Pricing is $10 for 1, $5 for 2, all of them for free if you take 3.

Hello!

I live in the White Mountains and am looking to get started with some Rhode Island Reds. I am just wanting layers...no Roos. Does anyone know of someone nearby looking to sell? Or should I just buy some from a hatchery? I plan on about 10 girls... Thanks!

Lyongirl - those girls are all gone. The other person wanted all I had.

I still have 2 phoenix hens and a roo for sale. I also have a Frizzle pair (hen with roo). I also have a flock of Appenzellers (with or without the roo) and I'm planning on getting rid of the Houdans too. I don't want to keep any crested birds (other than my blue polish).

I also have a small flock of Silkies (buff and 1 white). They are cheap. They hatched out of my homemade incubator that had all the issues and they have foot deformities from the humidity problems. Unsexed. I haven't even looked to see what they are.

Martin - When I was cleaning the chick buckets last night, I realized I forgot to bring the OE with when I came up.
