Hope to have some this year! We didn't buy a turner tho since you don't turn Tort eggs. Maybe someday we will try that ... I don't think I'm up for that right now with chicken eggs, seems to be too much to get wrong with humidity. But it would be so fun! Are the eggs from Mahonris Ameraucana eggs? If so, which colors? Happily tort eggs aren't as picky with the humidity - LOL! So they could have them any day and we would be happy.

Do you miss them? Are you trying to get your flock down to countable levels? Or are you just replacing them with another breed?

I am hoping the feed store in Tucson has some more chicks Friday. We decided it is a great time of year to add to our flock and I don't know any breeders here wanting to sell. I guess I"ll never get my BLRW. <sigh>

No, I'm happy they have a new home. I need the coop for other chickens. I've really dropped numbers to a more managable numbers because the quail are prime focus. I'm down to 32 adults. I have 6 youngsters I'm keeping and a 10 other younsters. I'm still planning to find a home for the Phoenix. I need coop space for the Jersey Giants, WFBS, and Salmon Faverolles. I'm still looking for eggs of WFBS and SF. I just don't want to build more coops. I still need to make some modifications to the tall pens so the sun can't beat into the coop in summer.

I was really wanting some BLRW, just because I think they are pretty. I always want something a little unusual. We thought about getting a polish hen for our little roo. My daughter really wants some Japanese bantams. Then, I still want to be sure I get some good egg producers without getting anything that looks ordinary.

Weird, I know. Lots of places will have things we want eventually, but I don't want to wait or make 100 trips to Tucson. I talked to a nice lady named Pat in Tucson or Marana that has some good breeds (like Marans), but she is going out of town tomorrow. I am trying to have patience, but I don't know if I will be able to. I really like the AZ Feeds on 6th, so we will probably get whatever they have. At least they are sexed. And they will pay us $4 for our rooster.

Pastrymama--we need pics of your new chicks! That sounds so fun!

Laree--I am pretty sure that recipes are to help you remember what goes in the dish, but you aren't actually supposed to follow quantities.

5pinkarrows;

I got most of my chickens from Pat and they are great. I try to support the local folks as much as I can.

BTW I just inherited a White Silkie Roo, anyone interested in giving him a safe happy home?

I just had the BEST time scooping the coop and the yard! Nice weather, good way to wind down after work, the ladies scratching and blurping in the yard getting in the way, and my neighbor giving me a free concert on her grand piano with all the doors open. Fabulous!
