Michele

I will get you some.. I'm going to buy some eggs from a friend out here in QC & sell those to the people I don't know from CL - I trust my friend's eggs. Then I'll be where I started without CL.

TT! :

That's not very reassuring!

TT! Sorry, I meant to be empathetic, not worrying. I have never hatched anything, except perhaps some crazy ideas. I do hope they hatch for you (your eggs, not my crazy ideas), and I am glad it sounds like they might.

Is she back to work on the eggs?

5pinkarrows: Oh, so sorry about your chicks

. I’m glad the others are ok. Don’t be too hard on yourself.

Muddy chickens bathed? I wish we had more rain...

How my chickens got muddy:

My "garden" this year is just a 6' section of planter on the perimeter of the yard. Between the summer being miserable on its own, and being due the middle of August, I know I won't have the drive to tend to a bigger garden. This section of planter has just been rock for 4 years and was solid clay dirt so I made DH scrape it out for me then I soaked it so I could mix in compost. Then while I was digging holes for the plants, I was dumping the rocky mud that came up over a retaining wall... Where the chickens were digging through whatever chickens dig through.

So they're muddy because, basically, I threw mud on them without knowing it.

PDX, I am sorry about your GLW. Have you tried the emergency thread on here? Maybe someone there can help you. I was the one looking for the Japanese bantams. My daughter really wants some. I soooooooo wish we could come get yours, but we are 3 hours south of Phoenix.

My 12yo really thinks they are the coolest.

Cluckin, I am truly impressed that you accomplished all of that while being pregnant. Good job!

As for our lost chicks, it was very sad. My husband was out running errands today and said he would get us more. While he was gone, I set the remaining chicks up in my daughters' room. I figured that would be fine for a week. I also put a lamp on them, and they seemed happy in there. Then, my dh came home with 4 new chicks (making a total of 7 babies) and a heat lamp. YAY!! So back out to the garage they went. I am pretty sure this means we will need to get new chicks every spring, so we don't waste the money spent on the heat lamp, right?

I'm so glad you are happy with her. She has such a nice disposition. She's not too pushy but still curious about everything. I'm glad I finally got to meet you today.

addiction is what my dh calls is.

so last night my son's preschool had an auction/dinner/blackjack night at the country club and we put in a few items for the silent auction. we don't have any big ticket items, but some of the moms tease me about my chickens so i told them i would auction off a dozen eggs a month for 6 months. well, they sold for $4.67 per dozen for six months! that's more than i charge! so

on those that make fun of my chickens.

now my dh's LIVE auction of a trip for 4 kids/4 adults to his firestation went for i think $350. makes me giggle because my kids get to go all the time and i am taking my daisy troop on a field trip to the fire station next month and it won't cost a cent!

sometimes i feel like i am in a completely different city when i take the kids to school, even though i only drive them 3 miles to school.
