Thanks again for the pasty butt advice. I had no idea. I will be very surprised if this chick makes it. She now has labored breathing. She still finds the breath to yell loudly when disturbed, but is slowly getting worse. I'm so sad about it. I had no idea that this wasn't a normal thing. I thought it probably always happened and the mama hen would keep them clean. UGH!!! I gave her some kefir, but it may be too late. I am giving it to the others so they don't get like this and watching closely.

nurseronda--the lady at the feed store told us that they need the light because they can't maintain body temp without it. She said the first week, it should be at 90*, then 85* the second week, 80* the third, etc.
