I use half a paper towel per egg. Then in egg crates (large eggs like yours should probably spaced apart so they can't touch eachother) then I fill any empty spaces with paper towels then wrap the carton in bubble wrap . I run newspaper thru the shredder and pack the bottom of tge box with newspaper, put eggs in, and pack it tightly with shredded newspaper so the eggs can not move. If there is any movement, I will add clean pine shavings (and tell them so it doesn't make a huge mess)

thanks noskiveez i package the eggs
the way you told me, hopefully the post office
does not break them, do you write fragile
on the outside

We are going to make it similar to the big one, just probably about 3 feet wide and 40 inches deep ... the same height, but will be two levels, and the whole front will open up for easy cleaning. Haven't decided if we are going to build or buy nest boxes. I'm going to still do sand for the bottom at this point. Of course we will use better lumbar than the big one's roof and sides - LOL! I'm sure at some point we will "have" to shingle it too, but maybe not just this minute ... we will see! We are going to replant our garden too, since most of our veggies got killed with the frost. We will be having a fun time outside the next two days

I had to take the whole week off (except yesterday) since we don't have anyone to watch Karsen when school is out ... not unhappy about it at all!
I'm going to Waddell on Thursday still to get the pullets from the two breeders, then to Casa Grande Friday morning for the cockerel ... I know you can't do Thursday, but what about Friday am? Oh, the Pinal County Fair is on starting Wednesday, might be fun to go to it one day too

Does anyone WANT an emu?

I am sooooo tempted to hatch this egg. It is caaaaaaalling to me--but I know it needs more space than we have.

Someone needs to:
1-Talk me down from the incubator.
2-Promise to buy the chick, should it hatch.

Anyone? Help! I have a sickness and can't stop myself.
