Arizona Chickens

I have two heat lamps going at present. One in my Laree Brooder with 11 chicks and one in my grow out pen with 16 chicks inside a baby swimming pool. At least once a day one or two of the almost three week old chicks will fly out of the pool and can't get back in and they start chirping.... Of course I always go out and put them back in....

I'll have to put the other 11 in with the 17 tomorrow as Monday, NurseShelly will have hatched the Icelandics.

I have the Icelandic broody to put them under, but if she doesn't accept them... then they'll have to go into the Laree brooder.

And by April, I'll be ready to sell some more of my stock.. including polish roos. I have 3 sultans and I'm praying that at least two are girls... they are amazingly beautiful.

Good for you! I forgot NurseShelly was hatching your Icelandics... If you need a buyer, let me know! I'll probably have my coop done by then...

avismeansbird, so sorry about your bird and that your girl had to be the one to see it.

At least it wasn't a mystery and you know what happened. Sorry that had to be the topic of your first post, but welcome to our thread.

TT!, did you take any pics of the Manzo coop?

Congratulations to everyone on the hatching and impending hatches.

Yep, that cage is in Sells. Plus it would be a lot of work dismantling it and hauling it home. Maybe someone in Florence or Casa Grande would attempt it. I am too old for that sort of stuff now, and my kids don't give me any help anymore. They say they will, and we start a project, but then they get a call from their wives and that is the end of it. I don't see them again until they need something.

Would anyone like to give these 2 boys a forever home? I would like to see them go together. I am sad that they need to find a new home as both are crowing now. They are pet quality and are from Sonoran Silkies. PM me if you are interested.

HI all !!! Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. ANYWAY, with all of this coyote talk I have a question. ??????? Is there any type of WATCH "animal"/ livestock/large bird (emu etc.) or/other etc. or repellant type stuff that is a good coyote deterrent? I have lived in my area for 25 years and have never seen a coyote in our neighborhood. We can hear them in the distance from time to time but never been close. Well My next door neighbor called and said that there were 2 yotes in the alley behind our house. The next day he said they were back and going up and down the alley around 4 pm. I have free range chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys and tiny goats and mini horses. ANY IDEAS GREATLY APPERCIATED!!! THANKS!!!
