Arizona Chickens

I think the one with gray lacing may be a SLW/BA mix. And the bluish one could be a blue orpington

This is an even less cooperative Bon, she wanted to get back to the others, they are tucked in for the night.

We had our first oweeee, Molly our blue Andalusian, lost one of her toe nails... Any thing I need to do for that????
I must of just missed the incident! I was home and did not hear anything out of the ordinary... I went out to say hi & make sure
they were good. I noticed blood on the ground... First I thought it was Kent pecking to hard to tap... One by one... Finally I saw
Molly with the blood dripping from her foot... Sure enough her toenail is completely gone...
I isolated her so she could stay calm, not make a mess & so her sisters wouldn't peek at her wound... It worked.. By the time,
bed time came around it had stop bleeding... She seems to be fine...
Do you think it will grow back???

It would depend on were it was ripped or cut off. If there is still the root of the nail some or all of it will grow back, if it dose grow back it most likely be deformed. Usually they don't. This is from my experience raising budgies and my cockatiel (that got its toe trapped in a typewriter it was investigating). Did you look around to see if it could have caught its toe nail on something?
With my budgies I found that a few of my cages that had wire grid on the floor was the problem. It is not always that simple. Most likely you will never know.

I agree, death is a little extreme, I can have my leg cut open, I will wash it, rap it up to stop bleeding and finish the day (or until it is discovered by my Bose and sent to the hospital and told I will be fired if I do it again). but my toes!!!!!! All I have to stub one....... I will screen, cry and get sick to my stomach. :th.

I told my wife I was headed to Queen Creek to bring back a dozen chicks.

She asked me how many chickens and chicks I have out there right now and gave me "THE LOOK".

I won't be going to Queen Creek... but I did tell them if they'd meet me half way in Mesa... I'd still come.

DW needs some things picked up in "Mesa"...

I have another broody Icelandic that needs some chicks don'tcha know?!!?

No doubt about it, I'll be selling chickens come May.

Since this is a family forum I can't write here my magic spell for toe injuries for me or my animals but there is a strong connection between it and George Carlins "7 words you can't say on TV"
