So this may be a little strange in the chicken thread, but do any of you own geese? I'm just looking to see if anyone else has had any good experiences raising geese in our hot dry climate? There IS an Arizona Geese thread... but its only got one post lol

Does anyone want a free white leghorn (or 2)

I have two boys that's are a little over 2 months old and 1 is already crowing! If anyone needs some roosters then I am your new best friend! Besides the white leghorn I have a barnvelder cockerel, basque cockerel (is white), some Easter egger cockerels, super blue egg layer cockerels...name it and I feel like I have it! PM me as I have not been able to keep up with thread (too many stupid roosters to take care of)

Making one of the T-frames into a green house. Using Home Depot clear plastic for this year. Each of the beds have PVC hoops that I can cover. They are not of my design. They are Ok, I can remove them when I do not need them if I wish.

Yet another beautiful day here in Tempe..our forecast is saying slight chance of rain later..

It was a beautiful day yesterday. My wife and I took the family out for a bike ride. Today should be about the same weather, too. We have no chance of rain today, according to AccuWeather, and only a 2% chance tomorrow. And the temperatures are only dropping by about 4*, too. My oldest came home from school overly concerned because it was going to be "really cold and rainy" today. Umm, look up and smell the air. Clear skies and no rain smell. Nope, not today it won't.


Every morning when I put the girls out to range, the older two start picking on the Silkies. After about an hour or so, they seem to all get along and be perfectly fine. Then, around 1700 Hours every day, they start the abuse again. Nothing major, as it's mostly just chasing them around. But I think my love came up with the reason. They are trying to herd the smaller Silkies back in to the coop. It's still dark when we put them out in the morning and then it's about the time it gets dusk at night. Right after their herding efforts fail, the two Barred Rocks go in and roost for the night. It's awfully cute, now that we know why it's happening.

You are very welcome Noel, try propping it open with something until they figure out there is food in there then remove the prop.... worked for us.

How do you anchor your PVC to the ground? Sorry if it's a dumb question... just trying to learn. We do get a lot of wind...

They are tied to the pig/rabbit fence, but you can also use sections of re bar and slide the PVC over them to keep in place....
