Unfortunately, no. I would loved to have seen that. The dog got all riled up when I said "COYOTE!" and coupled with the smell of it in the yard, she went crazy looking for it. If she had just stayed put for a few seconds she would have seen it slink from behind the greenhouse and jump up onto the wall. It stood there for a bit and leapt away just as the dog reached the wall. She loves protecting her chickens and really hates coyotes.

That is horrible! And terrible customer service! Tho I will say the PO from TX is terrible; I had 20 chicks shipped in Dec and due to PO delays only 6 arrived alive and three of those were at deaths door. One died later. I know lots of us are hatching; I just put some in the incubator, tho plan on keeping them for me, I will be hatching easter eggers and olive eggers for sale soon. Also folks over on AZ backyard farmers often have chicks, quail and other animals for sale. https://www.facebook.com/groups/401859019894039/
I had a wonderful morning! After a very long night of my 10-month old not sleeping well, I went out to let the girls free range, only to find a single egg in the coop. It's the very first and was sitting just outside the nesting box. So I scooped it up and noticed that the nesting box had a nice big place snuggled in to it. I figured it just didn't come out as easily as she expected... It was 47g and I think it was laid by my larger of my Barred Rocks, Christine.
So, as I'm finishing getting the girls ready for school, I hear one of them out there making a huge ruckus. I go over to the coop and Sleepy is in the nesting box raising the dead. I figured she noticed her egg was missing and was ****** off... Sorry for all the background noise. I couldn't get outside fast enough.
Shortly after, I took my girls to school. They were late five times this last quarter and nobody told me about it, so I'm biking and they are running. Gotta teach them the responsibilities of being on time. When I got home, I went to get their dish for the fermented feed, only to find a second egg, in the nesting box this time!!! It weighed in at 39g, so I'm thinking it was the smaller Barred Rock, Sleepy. None of the others are old enough. The Silkies are about 8 weeks and the Black Copper Marans are only about four weeks.
And to make it sweeter, it's two days before I leave for my hunting trip. I'll be gone for nine days, so I easily could have missed this all! Woohoo! I thought they'd never start... Oh, and they are significantly quieter this morning than they have been the last few days. Guess they were warning us...
oh so sorry about you losing your little precious cargo!! Demostine WOW!!! How much fun & eggciting for your first eggs!!! You will enjoy them... I am so thankful every time we go out to harvest the eggs.. It is still so surreal... Yes we are a newbie... One other OWIE today.. Jenny lost her toenail as well.. 2ND one this year... Weird?? Other than that no major problems.. However I found Mrs. Robinson on the top of the coop the last few nights.. I am NOT happy ... What is wrong with her?? Or them??? Just when I thought they were all getting along... No arguments between them durring the day.. As far as I could tell.. Shoot, like I don't have enough to do already.. Go out & tuck in a hen! :(

Hey guys thanks for the help! And sadly im being forced to get rid of my Pekin Drake. He's my best friend and i will be extremely sad to see him go. But i figured that if there was any group of people i would trust the most it would be you guys. So if anyone is willing to to take him from here ill have no charge at all. He's a sweet duck and he deserves a good home. Thanks

Gallo took time off from chasing the coyote to come work on my coop door. Who knew that it was so difficult to build a door?? He made it look easy, but, there were definitely a lot more steps than I had expected. Thank you Gallo

By the way, If it wasn't for Gallo, it would probably look like this:

Yep, hangin' with squeakyballs today. Good times. BTW, that is a fine looking coop.

Sounds like pecking order issues; they are most prominent at roosting time. I think that sometimes a lower ranked bird may find it easier to avoid all the harassment at roosting time by avoiding the roost altogether.

Oh, I would be so sad!! I just LOVE my 2 Pekin girls. I also have a Rouen girl and drake. Why do you have to find him a new home?
