Arizona Chickens

X 2...private breeders are the way to go for best quality and vigor...most often live longer and produce much longer too.

How are your new babies?

Almost done! Check out the beautiful door that Gallo made

We planted rose bushes in front of it. Mr. Lincoln on the left, Golden Showers Cl. on the right. I love golden showers! It is one of the only really fragrant climbing roses that does well in Tucson.

woot! picked up a 1950s redwood incubator. ;-) waiting for it to get all the way to temp now. have 10 buff orpington eggs in the styrobator, due next weekend, with another 9 and 7 Welsh Harlequin ducks due the following weekend.

Got some birds sorted out this afternoon, a pretty red EE boy penned with a solid white, solid black and a black & white EE girls, for more EE, plus a young Welsummer pullet laying fairly dark with speckles, an old Wellie hen and an old Wellie/Leghorn cross that lays about 3 extra large jumbo eggs a week, for OE.

Here's my Lil' Red

So my little Barred Rocks and Buff Orpingtons are 5 weeks old now. Can I tell the sex yet? What should I look for?

My Buff Daisy 2 sunning herself. She was 6 weeks old here.

This is Daisy 1 (RIP) at 5 weeks

Veronica at 5 weeks

My Blue Barred Rock at 6 weeks...very slow to feather in. I thought for sure she was a roo.

All of my Barreds look like your pics. 2 of the BOs look like they might be Roos. One is big and well feathered. The other is a bit smaller and half assed feathered. I'll get some pics up tomorrow.

That's it! I give up! Now you have to come over with your camera and take pictures for me! They are just too good!

The first picture is simply amazing, and I love the dog looking through the screen door!
Maybe will have to take a trip down your way some day.
That is Murphy my Shih Tzu. He and his sister were still in the "NO TOUCH" training I was working on with them. No dogs outside unless on a leash when the chicks were free ranging. It will be 3 years in July having chickens and the dogs are pretty good around them.
