Arizona Chickens

This is why I think I need a dog. To clean the yard of chicken poo.

Oh, wait... it goes in small and comes out BIGGER and no one will eat the big stuff so I will have to clean that up... and I can't put the dog poo in the garden... and my feed bill is already pretty hefty. Maybe I won't get a dog. But I can dream of a chicken-poo eating assistant of some sort, can't I?

I have a kid who has to clean up the dog poo, so it's all good. The bad news, the kid and the dog both eat alot.

i hope the mint takes off in my flowerbed, 2 out of 5 look like they shriveled up and died, but a 3rd one looked similar and bounced back so i'm just going to keep them in there. maybe they will root or send runners or something. i also read that mint helps with the fly problem, but i dont notice a change. we have more flies this summer than last, they seem to be more drawn to the water fountain than to the chicken coop and are pooping all over the rocks by my pond.
what are flies good for? i have no rotting flesh in my yard, shoo flies dont bother us!
we made some good progress on the coop today, we have 2 side runs and a lower run done. today we mostly worked on the coop condo. the roof took a while, i wanted a pitched roof, DH wanted a sloped roof. a few times he told me we're not archeologists! i know he was teasing me (about not being architects) but i wanted to punch him anyway!! LOL he's such a brat. it was a long but pretty fun day.
i did think about taking progress pictures but never got my phone out, i'm sure i'll regret that down the line.
early day tomorrow, going to try to finish by noon

I stripped down an old water heater, cut it in half lengthwise and put it on legs, filled it with good soil and we grow herbs, including mint, in there. The mint has come back 3 years in a row. I make some really good Mojitio's with it.

I would love them. I have eggs in the bator that are hatching Wednesday/Thursday but I live in Tucson, so unless anyone is headed down this way....

I have one taker on me bringing eggs down to Tucson.

It is 300 miles round trip. Just the trip from here to Tuscon that is about 10.5 gal. I need help on. Seeing and meeting other members is totally on me that gas is mine. That makes it the price of 5 gal. If we can gat two more, that is 2 gal of fuel each. Of course if any one wants to come with me, hop in. It is going to be a long day.

It looks good that it is going to happen, I would like to do it Wed. Gas is running $3.39 to $3.59, because it is always good to have things set I am picking $3.40 per gal. 2 people (I and one other) = $17.50 each, 3 people = 10.50, 4 people = 7.50.

I need to map out a rout, arrange times of pick up and delivery, most people work so I will have to pick up early in the AM, I will have to get up with the chickens. Any one wanting me to pick up in between Phoenix and Tucson going to Tucson, if not home will have to make arrangements. One I know how many and a rout I and give an ETA. I will most likely be making my deliveries and pick ups around 2 (14:00) at the earliest. Ot 3:30 (15:30) at the latest. Would like to be on the road back by 5:30 (18:30) if I have stops in between. Get into Phoenix no later the 9:00 (21:00), make my deliveries.

I have 3 carrier
700
, I will fix the black one so I can put chicks in it and wash them up, eggs, chicks, and pullets/roos and hopefully one round trip passenger.

Be sure to PM me and let the other person know. I will need phone numbers so I can call to make arrangements, address, and routing with ETA's.

If more time need to make arrangements I have to do it by or on Friday this week. I am busy this week end, my daughter is going to teach/help me to stay focused on being domestic. Skills I never learned and made habit. :fl It appears my life ambition of a maid will never happen, the only thing I ever really wanted, a maid. I know, I know, it is a strange thing to want so badly, you are asking "why on earth would anyone want a maid?". I wish I could answer that, but I just do.

Thought I would mention, if anyone just wants to ride along and meet the people I will be see in BYC in Tucson I would love it, lowers the fuel for everyone. Makes it Easter to see friends. Do not know what day yet, it depends. I when everyone is able. If I will be delivering eggs I can pick them up ant time. One less piece to the puzzle of timing. The latest I need to know is Monday. That way we can make phone calls or have a conformance call with all party's. I have never had more the 3 way party call I do not know if it can be done. We can try.
