Arizona Chickens

My good friend has 2 Buff Orpington roos he needs to get rid of. These are the birds I raised from chicks and he took half at about 7 weeks. They are now about 17 weeks and crowing a lot. Free to a good home but I'm sure a six pack of tasty brew would be gratefully accepted.
If interested, PM me and I'll give you his cell number. The birds are at the Craycroft/Pima area.

I was told by Superstition Feed in AJ that they have a second location off the 202 and McDowell (Power) area near Las Sendas. Does anyone know exactly where it's located? Im sure I could call them but since I work nights I don't have time to call them during the day. Anyone know where this feed store is located?

All the Pet Clubs are owned by Superstition Feed. So it's a Pet Club you're looking for. I've found the Pet Clubs in general don't have quite as much chicken-specific stuff stocked in those stores, though some do. But they generally have some. But the Pet Club you're looking for is located on the SE corner of Power and McDowell. Just right when you get off the 202 and turn west, it's right there on the corner before Power.

Good luck, Greg... I don't have any advice.

One of my hens has been limping for 5 days... she hasn't gotten better (or worse) and I don't see anything visibly wrong with her foot. I mentioned it to Gallo and he brought up Merek's. Now I'm worried. I posted to Emergencies/Diseases and added a video of the limp. Does anyone have any experience with this?

FWIW, I really don't think it's Marek's. The way you keep your birds would very much limit their exposure. No wild birds can get into your enclosure and you've free ranged only a few times. Add that to the indication that only members of the order Galliformes carry Marek's, the risk of exposure you'd have would be airborne from other chickens in the neighborhood. It's possible that an intact airborne virus could make it from a neighbor's flock, but I think the risk would be low.

I went out of town for a week, and my boyfriend was HORRIBLE about collecting eggs. As usual.

So I have all these eggs sitting around the coop, and hens on top of some. Others just lying in the dirt. It's a mess out there, and I certainly can't eat any of those eggs! Plus I have some eggs on the counter that are over a week old - they were there when I left. I was hoping a friend would come by to pick them up and hatch while I was gone, but I guess he wasn't able to.

If ANYONE would like some free Aloha hatching eggs, drop me a line. I am also considering just stuffing all of these eggs in the giant 'bator that I'm borrowing here (one of those 300-egg models) which would hatch out a ton of chicks on June 12th. I'd sell the chicks cheep to my neighbors or whatnot, because I don't like to raise chicks in the summer. (I'm done with chicks for this Spring, I have about 60 growing out right now!) But not sure what to do with them, seems a waste when the chicks are so darn pretty:

So if you're interested in some Aloha hatching eggs, give me a holler! The stale, old, or been-sitting-outside-for-a-week ones are FREE. Hatch rate might be poor. But did I mention, the older ones are FREE??? I just hate to see them go to waste. :)

Why don't you hard boil those old eggs and chop 'em up and feed back to your chickens? They would love them and the eggs would not be wasted. Old eggs never get wasted on my farm.

What about Dorkings? Does anyone raise these tasty chickens in AZ? Id love to get a few of them!

I have a friend in Willcox who was raising them. She couldn't sell the chicks for what they were worth, nobody even knew what they were. She gave up on them and sold them all. I don't know where they went, if the buyers are still working with them. I can ask her. Marans are tasty

Hi.
I don't know of anyone here in AZ...but Jeremy Woeppel (Jwhip on here) has some super nice, big white dorkings in Nebraska. XW Poultry Ranch www.
xwpoultryranch.com to see photos. I believe he has hatched alot and may have eggs, chicks, started juveniles etc. available. His email is [email protected]...I would put "DORKINGS" in the subject line so you get a quicker response. I have gotten other birds from him and eggs...very pleased all around.

Thank you! I wanted to try to get some thing as close as possible, chicks are expensive to ship and I don't have any way to hatch eggs right now. Do you have marans marcy, I've heard great things about you

Yes, I've got Marans for sale. No more newly hatched chicks, though. A few that are 2-4 weeks old and several that are getting close to lay. PM me.

I let the kids out to play in the mud and hunt for worms for a couple of hours. I helped dig the worms and then they wouldn't leave my side for quite a while. Anytime I bent over they'd come running over to see what I had found.

Their names are Dottie and Scarlet. Can you guess which is which?
