Arizona Chickens

Wow, what a beautiful morning here in Tempe Arizona.. Our son that injuried his right elbow in wresting, get his
staples out..
We were going to keep one of the babies from Loraine's hatch..
Remember when we mentioned our friends that do ministry work in Mexico, they will be taking all 5.. They go down
once a month to help rebuild a few families in one community.. Food ,clothing, seeds, now chickens... They have been
down their building coops the last few months..if they need any more I will post...

They need to know Mexico's import requirements; it may not be as easy as simply taking chicks down there...

Sonoran Silkies thank you, I have already made progress in that direction. I keep items on hand for when this happens. I am planing on adding to my stores provisions for assistance of some kind. A list of phone numbers and cash in an emergency account. When a school kid I was back in school the next day, then it was 24 hrs, then 48, now about 72 hrs or more. Getting older requires adjustments. Besides that, for SSI and AARP I need a doctor to look into it. It is Possable in 60 yrs. they know more, maybe something can be done?

Just me, I know there is and end and be all right. But, I need to be sure my girls are good. In the mean time there is a family down the street I've talked to. They have had chickens, I will be talking to them and for the summer at lest about day care for my girls if I am not here or sick. This will give me time and piece of mind.

It is funny, what is important. I remember seeing an interview, during LA Fire season. A multi million dollar mansion burning in the back, the family being interviewed, "were you able to save any valuables?" Fathers reply, "yes, everything, we are all here, the stables are not in danger yet, our horses are being moved to safety." He, his wife, a couple of kids, several dogs and in several glasses were fish blithely swimming about. Instead of grabbing stuff they wre trying to saving goldfish out of the aquarium. I like that family.

Automatic waterers would be a big help. They need regular maintenance, but can be a lifesaver on super hot days, and since you know that you occasionally have problems, they will help you during those times.

Another shocking development!!! So i went to check on my hen and her babies yesterday afternoon and counted all and plus one! Turns out its not a chicken! Its a quail!!!! He's a little itty bitty guy!! He seems to have either gotten lost or his mom died but my hen has accepted him!! He has been eating and drinking and sleeping along with his "siblings" Im just sooooo confused with this whole week.

Hello from the NE corner of AZ. My son home from his NAVY "cruise" overseas came to visit before he settles into shore duty. We visited some of the National Sites in the area and when I came home I had a shipment of hatching eggs to put under my two broodies. The blue Marans has four larger eggs and the tiny NN Serama five tiny eggs.

Here are some Pictures of my son the Navy Man.

hey all. i put my swedish flower rooster on craigslist if anyone is interested. i got him from hatching eggs from alohachickens and he was used for the aloha program at my house for a while. he doesnt get along with my other rooster and they compete crow, only he crows way more often. he has never attacked me, but he hates flip flops. i would like him to go to a byc-er, that way i know he wont be used for fighting. if he ends up as dinner that wont hurt my feelings, altho he is a pretty guy. call or PM if interested. i will probably take him to mesa feed thursday...
