Arizona Chickens

My black copper marans is still suffering from impacted crop. I massaged it last night (huge), and tried to give her some bread soaked in olive oil. Held her tilted down, and tried to get some of that junk out of there. Nothing. Tried this morning, too. Her crop (still huge) is soft and squishy this morning, and as I was "burping" her, she did lots of burps but nothing came out. Stinky. Guess it's moved onto sour crop? I need to read up more on this. Sucks. Really didn't think I'd run into this problem so early on in chicken keeping.

Have any of the Arizona people had a chicken recover after having an impacted or sour crop? Reading along the threads here, it seems like a persistent problem.

It sounds like you are doing the right thing? Keep on holding her upside down & try to massage out.. The smell does not sound good..
We are just a newbie so keep on reading.. Poor thing..

One more request.. A vet that won't be upset when we refuse canser treatment on a dog is 12 years old.
