Arizona Chickens

Hey, since no one seems to respond to my posts except here in AZ, would you guys mind taking a look at these photos and telling me your thoughts? Pretty please?

I've heard that slower feathering in is a male trait, but I'm not sure that applies to marans. Also take anything the What's This forum tells you with a grain of salt--I've had 3 chickens "misdiagnosed" as males when they were pullets. Your BCMs look much lighter than the ones I had, of course, they all ended up being over-melatinized (all black, no copper)(and that has nothing to do with gender, just noticed a difference).

Also wait to judge a chicken on other features besides the comb development. The 3 chickens I mentioned above all had fairly rapid comb growth by 6 weeks (2 were barred rocks, and one was a BCM). I mean, sometimes I guess it is super obvious. My RIR was so obviously a cockerel at a young age it was ridiculous.

Okay, that's good to know. She/he is the biggest of the BCMs as well. She's not the darkest, though. And none of them are very dark. I should have gotten some BOs to lighten up the group. I lost my white silkie the first day so that buff you recognized is the only light colored chick I've got. Cross fingers it's a pullet!

Here are my Buttercups. They are about 3 months old. The boy has attempted to crow. He's even tried the "mating dance" with one of my hens. He's a tiny little thing. The hen (who was twice his size) just turned and gave him a good peck.

Here is Copper Wings. Copper Wings is a boy. Copper Wings needs a good home. This is not a good home for Copper Wings. Copper Wing's daddy is kicking him out, and his mother (a Wheaten Ameraucana) says he needs to find his own way in life and a new flock. Copper Wings is sad. None of the chickens will tolerate him. He sleeps with the dogs.

He's skittish but really pretty, and he's not a crower. He does a little, but hardly anything. His daddy isn't a big crower, either, and his daddy is a wonderful rooster. If you'd like to adopt Copper Wings, pm me. Thanks! I also have some pullets for sale: a Buff Orpington, 2 months; a White Rock, 2 months, and a Silver Laced Wyandotte, 1 year old.

She has turned into his shadow today. I hope she stops fallowing him. Would anybody like a little hell raiser? I have spent a lot of time trying to get HIM tamed down, but HE has other Idea's. :th life in my back yard will never be the same again, I fear. :/
