Hmmm ... I listened to the song several times, even had it playing as I made coffee for My Beloved this morning, then returned to the computer to play it again and went looking for the words to the song (http://www.cowboylyrics.com/lyrics/ely-joe/gallo-del-cielo-2259.html) and listened a couple of more times as I read the words along with humming the music.
I have been a country music fan for more years than I care to remember but I have never heard of Joe Ely before, so along with the explanation of your name, and the song you provided, thank you for this, it was a MOST interesting start to what may become an overwhelming day.
As the chairwoman of the County Fair committees, My Beloved is being sued (along with the Association) by a man that parked blocking several other cars at the County Fair in a place where he was specifically told NOT to park. After several hours of public announcements the car was finally towed, on a Saturday, which meant the guy couldn't get his car until Monday, so towing fees and storage fees were added together and he is taking her and the Association to court (Small Claims) for the sum of $2500. The first mediation is this morning, and no one with the Fair seems to understand that this IS SERIOUS, and don't seem to want to "get involved." That may leave My Beloved open to paying the entire $2500 plus costs, so yeah, I would say "overwhelming."
In the meantime I am off to listen to and find more of Joe Ely music. (and maybe listen one more time to this beautiful song)

I agree that there must be some means for the fair to mediate the problem for an employee. No one should be liable in the first place since that person was in fault for not obeying the rules.Phottoman, I don't quite understand. Here, since the fairground are run by the county government, the county attorneys would be involved any matter going to court. Your beloved needs to call the county attorney's office if the fair employees aren't doing it. I don't think she will be liable for any $$.
THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL !2 birds x 6 days=
I'm so proud of Ony and Lil' Phil. I haven't eaten eggs all week because I wanted to fill a box. Every day both lay in the nest box and not a single broken, strange, faulty egg in the bunch. I haven't gotten an egg or food scale yet to see what size they actually are but plan to get one soon. I'm going to guess Phillie's are small and Onyxia's are closing in on medium.

Skip, I'm sorry to hear about the legal issues. Hopefully the court will see that that the guy was in the wrong and rule in favor of the County Fair Committee. You both will be in our thoughts today.
I'm glad you liked the song. It has been one of my favorites since the album first came out. Joe Ely is part of the Texas songwriters tradition epitomized by his contemporary, Townes Van Zandt. Along with two of his fellow songwriter/musician friends Jimmy Dale Gilmore and Butch Hancock, they formed a band called The Flatlanders. They all had a dislike for the corporate Nashville country music scene so that hampered their wider exposure. I think they are among the finest artists Texas has ever produced. I'm sure that given a chance, you would recognize several of their songs, or songs they've written for others. If you're interested in more of Joe Ely, I'd highly recommend the album, Letters to Laredo, it is his crowning achievement.
Here's a nice Flatlanders song:

Here's a song to play for your Beloved. I often think about this song when someone from your neck of the woods posts.

Awww....I had to look up Mayer, I had no idea where it was. If you were closer, I'd even drive him half-way.
