Arizona Chickens

I agree! What a beautiful bunch. You should be proud. Have you eaten any of their eggs yet?
Thanks!

I have... Ony has laid 19 eggs, hasn't missed a single day. Phil has laid around 9 in the past 12 days I think. They are sooooo good. I posted this pic a couple weeks ago of Ony's second egg on the left and a store bought cage free grade AA large brown egg on the right.

I was surfing for a specific group and found a link for another backyard chicken group in the "Valley" so I posted above for anyone with time to explore.

Hey Beckyhsinglsc and the others involved, I would like to borrow Gallo's rooster also but I will not be down in the Valley until November 10th. It is a sunday and if anyone has him I would take him North for a bit. But it is my understanding that Russian Orloffs do not like the cold much. Anyway keep me posted where he is and if he is available for rent ?

It is the other way around. The Orloffs are a cold weather breed. They do not like the heat. I've got a bunch of Russian Orloffs cockerels (and pullets) that are extras if anybody is interested.
For sale, not for rent

So work has been really crazy the past couple of months and I have not been able to check out things on here. Way behind. Our three girls made it through the summer just fine and last night we got our first egg. Hard to believe just around 6 months ago we got them as day old chicks. We were starting to think it was never going to happen as each week passed. Here are some updated pictures. Our first egg last night Phoebe our Americauna interested in the camera phone. Monica our Barred Rock keeping watch over the yard. Pretty sure she is the top of the pecking order. Rachel our Rhode Island Red out strolling. I think she was the first egg layer as when I found the egg they were all roosting for the night and she was in the middle with her wings over the other two. Not sure if that means it was her but since it was a brown egg it was either her or Monica.
I love phoebe!! One of my dogs names is phoebe.. She is the most precious dog on the planet...

2 birds x 6 days= I'm so proud of Ony and Lil' Phil. I haven't eaten eggs all week because I wanted to fill a box. Every day both lay in the nest box and not a single broken, strange, faulty egg in the bunch. I haven't gotten an egg or food scale yet to see what size they actually are but plan to get one soon. I'm going to guess Phillie's are small and Onyxia's are closing in on medium.
Oh girl same here.. I love just looking at the beautiful eggs.. I have been passing out 6 at a time to our neighbors & long time clients... It brings joy to give and hear them say "these are from YOUR CHICKENS!" I am like "YEAH" with a huge smile on my face...

I can't have roosters, though so it would have to be a quick switch. I could maybe get away with having him one or two days. He sure is pretty!

Right; we're in the same boat. Let's see what Angelray has to say. It really would be awesome if someone could keep him.

You can have him if we can get him up that way!
