DOH! Just got the 5 new chicks on wens.. and today went to this ladies house and picked up 2 blue wyandotte chicks and 1 Cuckoo Maran... lol im bad.. well actually i cant take the credit it was my husbands idea.

Hi there, does anyone know where I could find a Maran chick in the Phoenix Metro area? Thank you for any help

My chicken coop


Several areas for quarantine. Really small area by the coop, larger area to the left and then the whole back yard, and finally the whole 5 acres free range.

So i went to this ladies house cause she just got a HUGE shipment of chicks in and shes only keeping so many and is selling the rest so i took 3... however my kids, my husband and myself all had the same reaction to the habitat all her chickens and chicks were living in.. IT WAS BAD.. i wish i could of taken more chicks.. but i could not 8 is our max and i already had 5 at home and at $6 a peice.. thats ALOT of $$$ I could not believe all the chicks were outside in cages with 1 heat lamp i felt so bad for them.. all huddled together trying to keep warm.. (it was pretty chilly once it started to rain) *sighs* i cant get the image out of my mind... and the adults were outside in just wire all around them and boards.. and dressers.. it looked like a dump.. i felt so bad for them...

I assume no vaccinations? I would not have bought chicks from this lady but reported her for inhumane treatment. Too cold for babies to be outside up here.

Yes the vaccinates were done as she got them from a hatchery.. but they looked so cold... all huddled together.. I never thought i would see chickens in such a dump.. and even my 7 year old was like wow you have alot of junk and garbage out here.. i had to susssshh him a little.. she has BLRW's too (im a lil jealous) but the living conditions i would never think in my wildest dreams anyone would have for their babies & adults...*shakes my head* it was sad..... the chicks are 10 days old outside like that.. just omg.. all my babies are nice and warm inside our house.. i would not put them outside... just omg.. it angers me and makes me sad all at once!

I would report her. I can't stand it when animals are mistreated and abused.
