Arizona Chickens

Chickens are definitely not mentioned in the Constitution; it is extremely difficult to change the it, and a right to own 2 hens per occupant, but not roosters is far more specific than any other rights that are guaranteed.  For that matter, back then I doubt there were many zoning or city ordinances that forbade having chickens; having chickens, even in town, was a pretty common occurrence.

Been off for a while due to this last weekends celebration... :yesss:
It is SO GOOD to see you back on girl!!! :weee

Hope this is not to late, we have barn are mix fertile eggs.. Did you find some yet? :frow[/quote]

Thank you City! I bought some from a BYC member from CA. They should arrive tomorrow and hopefully they are all intact and not fried from the heat during transport. I know it's a long shot (shipped eggs, in the heat, etc) but I will try. If i candle them at 10 days and nothings happening I may get some day olds for her instead.
Next time I will keep you in mind!
She's very determined, she won't leave the nest so I have been hand feeding her the FF, giving her water and wishing it was a little cooler for her.

I haven't tried the lye yet, but absolutely nothing else worked for killing the oleanders. I've cut a few down to ground level, drilled the holes for the epsom salt method, a special product from Home Depot (don't remember the name), Ground Clear (perhaps that what you meant when you said Yard Clear?), burned it, soaked it in gasoline and burned it, covered the entire stump with a black opaque bucket... Now, I've buried it beneath my compost pile, not that I have high hopes there, either. It comes back strong as ever. It was even growing, despite NO sunlight, enough to start pushing the bucket up off the ground! Aside from digging the entire thing up, I've had no luck at all.

Thank you so much, good info if I decide to do cornish x. I have read the FF thread but its a bit overwhelming. I have only ever fed dry crumble and scratch mix with fresh vegetables when i have them. lol Chickens are smart. They love to eat too. I appreciate all the advice and I think I am going to try the FF. Thank you all so much. :thumbsup
I use those office/desk organizers you can get at any hardware store for about $2. I have and engraving store so I fashioned a holder out of scrap acrylic and the feeder slides right in. Makes it easy to fill at feeding time. I love FF and will never go back to dry. Since I never go anywhere it works for me. I have babysitters for short trips but if I had to be gone for an extended period I would have to leave dry like pipemum does. I am a frequent visitor on one of the ff threads. Any questions just ask away!
They love it & so do we.. :love. It is more nutritious, better quality, some draw backs.. You have to order in advance.. Go to Phoenix to pick up.. Howerever, I heard the BAKERS is closing.. I wonder where we would pick up from?

Is anyone (probably in the San Tan Valley) missing their chicken? This picture was posted on the San Tan Valley Queen Creek Pets page of Facebook. She says she found it and is trying to give her away for free. However, based on the way that chicken looks, I'm guessing she belongs to a backyard chicken enthusiast. And probably close to wherever it was found. Can you guys network and see if she belongs to anyone?
Chicks of Hazard - I think this is so kind of you to go the extra step to try and return this beauty to her "peeps". I hope she finds her home or another good one. What an interesting find on a morning walk. I'm not sure I would have taken it from the area though. Oh, well - best of intentions.
I bet she was just free ranging.. BUT got caught.. Ha, those brats.. Hope it all works out..

I was digging in the yard a couple days ago and I found this creature, buried in the ground. I emailed the pic to desertmarcy (who knows about herps) and she said it's a Western Blind Snake (Leptotyphlops humilis). She said, "they spend most of their time burrowing but can sometimes be found on the surface, especially after rains. They eat small insects like ants, larvae, and termites." ANTS!!! TERMITES!!! :weee How perfect is that? A snake you never see that eats ants and termites.
. HA!! Got to get some!! Can you figure out how to reproduce a bunch??? Our neighborhood is completely infested with both ants & termites... Where can we get some????
