Arizona Chickens

What I've read about that method was some kenneled the dog with this chicken tied around its neck. Until it basically rots off. As a dog trainer I would have to do a lot of method training. I've made a lot of progress with our puppy but I still see the "want to" in his eyes. I keep forgetting to put my e-collar on him but I used to use another "catch" tool. Paint Ball Gun. I have the best results when putting the dog in the same situation as when it happened. Recreate the situation. For instance, my next trading episode I'm going to drive off and park around the corner. Leave him out as he is kenneled when unsupervised now and sneak up with a paintball gun or have the e-collar on him. It won't take but 1infraction for him/her to learn. I train police dogs and they often have problems in training them to let go after a bite. A paint ball whizzing past their Rear End sticks in their minds. Lol
hey K9 Dave maybe you can help me with a rescued dog I took in. A huskey mix I think. She is young and we got her just before Christmas. My boys school called me and asked if I would take her in as she was malnourished without a color and had obviously been on her own a bit.

Well my sons bordoodle (border collie/ poodle) does not like her and they both start fights with the other one off and on. I am talking maybe 10 fights since we got her in December but this morning the fought on the bed and she bit my son on accident. He is ok just a couple of punctures on his forearm. They sleep, play, eat and live together. I have 17 dogs total and they ALL get along but these two. Even these two get along when it suits them. I have trained dogs for 4-H etc and I have never in all my years rescuing dogs had this issue before. They usually work it out with in a few weeks to a month. They have the run of 1.25 acres and there are 5 big dogs that sleep in my boys bedroom. I have been kenneling them after any issues but I was thinking maybe a cone on each of their heads or a muzzle. I am so out of ideas.
I know I could take her to the pound but the chance of her making it out is slim and on craigslist you never know who and why they want a dog. I don't like to give up on the dogs especially when they have had a bad start of things. I just saw you are a trainer and wanted to ask if you or anyone else has any suggestions?

(these are the 2 that worked together to get into my quarantine pen and eat my 3 chickens and they didnt even fight over the raw chicken meat. ugh)

Thank you in advance

Ok. Found the AZ thread. Does anyone know where in Gilbert AZ to buy products to treat my tick (and possibly worm) infested hens? I need 7 dust and ivernec. Thanks

I am not in gilbert but most of the feed stores should have Ivermec and walmart or any home garden store carries seven dust. Good luck. Poor babies I hope they feel better soon.

:barnie Lisa, has gone broody! Good grief, perfect timing. Trying to stock pile eggs for the lean months a head. (Lisa, is the pencil Partridge barred Rock.). :th She was showing interest in the chicks. Fluffed out her feathers hovered over the checks as their mother did the same thing until she backed Down. I, at first thought she was going to hurt then, then I was confused, now I think it makes sense, sort of. She is just a year old. Probably when she is re homed she will snap out of it. But from what I gather, she will just keep going broody unless she has her own peeps, maybe wrong...?¿?¿?

Thank you, everyone.
The lone survivor stayed huddled in a corner of the brooder all night. She is not eating, but I did coax her into a few mealworms this morning. All she wants to do is hide. She flew up and perched on the side of the brooder this morning, so I went over and picked her up and cuddled her for a while, she repaid this by crapping on my arm. I let her down on the floor, and she promptly found a dark corner to hide in. I spent the last hour building a new larger (and taller) brooder box. I also took a copy paper box and cut a hole in the end to give her a place to feel safe. I'm thinking about going down and picking up a few hardware store chickks just to keep her company.
A mirror may help

Yes, I will put the mirror back in. A friend at work told me that if I put new chicks in with her, she will kill them. She is 2 1/2 weeks old and about the size of a small robin or dove. What you all think? The local feed store was closed today, so I was not able to get any chicks, but I do have an order of partridge cochins shipping the week of the 19th, and an order of Black Jersey Giants shipping ASAP, hopefully early in this week. Will I have to keep them separate until the newer chicks get some size?

My chicks are 10 weeks old now all are doing well....say for one...Lacey my gold laced wyandotte shes been acting so weird...shes not staying with the other girls....shes always being distant....its weird cause its only been happening this last week...what is wrong with her????:(

A lot of people look on C. List, because rescues can be mighty expensive. ( And have crazy rules.) I got my last dog- a Beautiful purebred G. Shepherd off Craig's list-although I did have to drive a few hours to accomplish that. Also my last 2 mares & the donkey were found on C. list. I drove 10 hours to get 1 mare & donkey, & a month or so later over 2 hours to get the younger mare. The prices were reasonable and they will not be for sale-they ALL have Permanent Homes! I have no problem looking on C. List to get a start on my flock-when the time comes.

I had a couple day old in with several different ages up to 4 months and they all got along fine. I have 25 from (now they are 4 wks to 5 months) living together and doing awesome. They picked on each other for a bit then they were fine. Just be vigilant with them. If she is scared or lonely she may run and hide from them.

Maybe getting the younger chicks while she is in a weakened state will have her being less aggressive with them? I'm not a chicken expert but I bet this will help a lot.
