Arizona Chickens

Well, my google "research" says that a large fowl chicken probably shouldn't raise the chicks as she might be too big and the wee babes could be crushed. My tiny grey girl would be small enough, but while the EE is no hulk, I think she might be too large for quail babies. I'll break the EE. I think I'm going to get coturnix quail anyway...found a deal on Craigslist.

Gallo, your treadle design is awesome. Obviously. Crushing that it's not YOU prospering off it.

Gallo, basically you are screwed. Even if you had it copyrighted or patented, there is very little you can do against Chinese "patent pirates". Even if you spent a fortune in legal fees and won a court case, they would shut down the business and then reopen next door. Sorry, but that's the way it is, and it won't change.

Of course if we were closer! ! Good times girl. .

hey if I get 5 acres you can park your motor home ;)

Agh, so sweet of you..someday for sure.. I think we will ave to take 4 days & make the rounds down that way..drove to Eloy to look at a car for our son.. They guy said it was only 40 minutes from Tucson..

you guys have great free ads...our are not very good at all :(

All the good ones seem to be too far away to make it worth while for me but here you could def get almost anything on CL. Alot of fakes but I learned how to tell the difference.

I never really had time to check it out until about last year. So far I've got 4 great shape 16" GMC stock rims for my truck. I have 17" and 16" tires are like $75 cheaper each for my truck. A 60 gal and 55 gal aquarium with all kinds of fish, food, chemicals etc. 2 stands for them. One is now being used as a TV stand. Lol. 2 air compressors that just need a rebuild kit ($40 each). I've gotten my wife so much fabric that she had to do a few Goodwill Trips with the extras. She's made all of our curtains, some pillows, I made a welder cover lol.

When you're not working, it's funny what can pass the time.

Sounds like a retired person to me. Surprised your not working for a pool company welding fences for them..

Ok Thanks to Mary Mavros (on Tucson clucks) asking about egg production phone app, I have asked my brother in law to make me an app. He can do android and possibly iphone. WHAT would we like to see on this app? egg production per flock, egg production vs temps, egg production by breed, egg production vs feed costs, amount of feed per pen. what else??

Will you give him my number.. We have a app we would like to have go public.. I have asked all my professional hackers friends with no referral of who to call.. :th

I just discovered that someone took my treadle feeder plans and is mass producing them in China and selling them in Pet Club stores. It makes me sick.

****, that sucks, Gallo.  Can BYC do anything since now I guess your plans are technically copyrighted by BYC?

Okay, I'm back from vacation!  Yahoo, my chickens survived.  Even my garden did okay, though the bed of squash didn't make it.  Replanted on Sunday, should be golden in a few weeks.

My EE is broody...I'm not sure when that started.  I didn't think EE's were prone to broodiness, but didn't someone else here recently have an EE go broody as well?  I'm not sure what to do with her, I guess I should break her but I don't really have a broody breaker space, lol.  Obviously too hot to give her meatie chicks.  What about coturnix quail chicks?  They do better in heat.  Could she raise a different species for a couple of weeks?

Well, I'm off to do a new google search on chickens raising quail...and searching for cortunix quail chicks locally.

2 EE have gone broody.. The 3rd one is still laying.. Our silkie Cheryl has gone Brody 2x this year.
How long do you let your hen raise the chicks before giving away?
P.M. @sill she has quail..
