@K9Dave
I have a wonderful book for oatmeal recipe ideas. It's called 75 Ways To Love Your Oatmeal by Jenny Grothe. It has some amazing recipes in it, my favorites so far are the blue berry cheesecake bake oatmeal and apple pie quinoa. You can also go to her face book page she posts recipes on there all the time.

silly question but what do you use sorghum for? Is it a crop for your chickens or humans or both? And if it's for humans what do you make with it?

Sorghum flour is great for those that have Celiac disease, like myself, to substitute regular wheat flour with while baking. It's used in several GF flour blends.

Sorghum is a variety of grass, and has several uses. In hot, dry climates, it is often grown for animal feed, because it uses about 1/7th of the water that corn requires. In the southeast US, it is often grown to produce sorghum syrup, a molasses substitute. The sorghum juice can also be fermented and distilled to produce ethanol. There are two main types, grain sorghum and sweet sorghum. I have never used sorghum flour, so can't tell you anything about taste or uses for it.
Around where I live, after the fields are harvested, they turn sheep into the fields for gleaning. They eat all parts of the plant.

I want it to press for Sorghum syrup, sort of like molasses, but milder in flavor. My SIL has pigs that would probably love what's left over too! :)

I also got a variety of seed that I can make broomsticks with. Awesome for decorative purposes or even to use as a broom. Lol!

Now you're talking.. How did the meeting go??? how was @carnivore dish?
Was there dirt in there.. From the bumpy ride... :lau

We had a good meal. No mud, but the last half mile was a dirt road, so I took it slow. I have a hearing problem, so a lot of the meeting went in one ear and out the other, but we were discussing the November poultry show at the Pima county fair. After the meeting was over, I was informed that I was the show co-chairman! Being deaf su@&s!

Oh no!! That is to funny, you need to bring a friend to translate for you.. Not sure if congradulations are in order?
