Arizona Chickens

Ditto for me. My roo kept taking it off. He did ok with the regular velcro for about a week, then figured out how to hook his claw into 1 of the loops of the velcro, pull& off it went! After several times of that I gave up. I know he was laughing with delight when he finally declared victory!

I'm sure he celebrated his victory with a loud full crow. Lol

It's still dark out but I keep hearing my young quail roos crowing.  I think as soon as it's a little more light out I'm going to start processing my excess males.  They are just over 6 weeks and the some of the hens have already started to lay, but the roos are getting obnoxious with their crowing.  While they are not too loud they are loud enough I don't want my neighbors wondering what critter is making that strange noise in the dark.:idunno

Darn boys! They always cause trouble.

So,so, so true... Our roster went after our son for the first time this week..

Senator Farnsworth, has won the Republican primary for LD-16. He is the one that has been fighting for AZ land property rights in the form of SB1151. It's time to get him re-elected in November so we can get chicken bill 2.0 passed.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I had that happen with one of my girls several years ago, never knew what happened. My vet said they can have heart attacks & strokes so maybe that was it.
I had heard that about heart attacks and strokes, too. And, we did have thunder and lightening in the middle of the night. But why did it have to happen to a young bird who was showing such egg-laying potential? Even though I've only met a couple of you (maybe we should have a West Valley meet and greet one of these years), I really appreciate the outpouring of support from everyone on this site.
