Arizona Chickens

Are you Carnivore and just changed your name? I read every post and did not see where you told us you were changing your name

You suck dude! I will never have an egg carton that looks like that!

I'm busted! Yes, long story, did an "undercover" name change.
Funny eggs. Look at the white egg, second from the right side. Got this crested Polish that lays these looong skinny eggs. (or, since this pic is on my non-cooperating cell phone, second white egg from the bottom!)

This is a gret way of telling each hen's eggs apart.. For some reason I really like round eggs..

Okay, here's a new one for me.  I have a young pullet that is pretty good size.  The other pullet, that is the same age, and was part of a group I raised.  Anyway, the one pullet has no comb or waddle except for just a little tiny ridge that is really pale and just little buds for waddles.  The others raised with her all have fairly well developed combs and waddles except for her.  She's really good size and I think she's laying.  Any ideas why she has no big girl comb or waddle?

Is she the same breed as your other pullets?

I know that the Hamburgs we raised this last year all had their own time for getting combs and wattles.

Some of the girls were well developed at 26 weeks and others didn't get their comb development for another couple of months, and they are all the exact same age and breed. Some advice that was given to me when I asked this question was to look at them as individuals, they will get there. And, they were right! :-)

I agree, there seems to always be a couple that can not read the book. Right now Ethel is 9 mo, and Sweetie 6 mo. Sweetie, being a Silkie, take a long time, book and people say 6mo to a yr. they lay when they lay. Ethel is mixed, her comb has just now stopped flushing pale to bright. But being in the Northern latitude I do not expect her to lay because of the sun. I am not sure if going South will help. I had 1 girl that turned 6 mo in late Fall and started to lay in the fallowing spring.

Your welcome..
If you get time read the link we posted up under @a little chiken tis person added a list of frst aid kit. It is really meant for everyone not just her.. They even mention to add a strip of bug detruant into the deign of their coop..

When I built my coop, I had a 1 1/2" layer of DE in the floor, with intentionally unsealed edges. Idea, bug goes in but not out. I would have liked to have done the walls, insulation and bug killer. But I only had single layer walls.

Check out the beautiful egg colors.. Praying for a good hatch.. I tried to get Cheryl off the nest, with no luck..:ep
