Arizona Chickens

I read that news story a couple days ago and I'm still disturbed by it.  That man should be immediately removed from any position of power.

I agree! I wonder what he does to people he arrests that might tick him off? And how did he get his job in the first place? He must be some sort of psychopath to pass the test requirements on his mental condition.
I winder that to. I keep thinking about the betrayal, people, her boy and the trust a pet chicken develops. She must have instinctively known that this man was evil. Chickens will be cautious with strangers, but I have had chickens that just trusted people.

The family could easily use that video of the boy and his chicken, let people then say chickens are not pets.

I need help. I live at Higley and southern I have a chicken that is egg bound. She has been this wY since yesterday. I took the waster hose to her back side. She is standing now but I'm not sure I fixed the problem. You can reach me 480.290.4049

neocropsy found these and more on chicken diseases The first two may be the most helpful. Post mortum for Mareks is fasenating. All I can figure out is the chicken had a fungus in the lungs. I hope you use maskes.

What kind of incubator did you get?

An Eggcubator from Amazon. I had a friend with one and it worked great. So far I am really happy with mine. Auto turner, humidity sensor and alarm, factory preset heat control. It holds 48 eggs and seems like a bargain at 149.00 with free shipping.

I heard you try to gently put olive oil in the vent and massage her abdomen. There are numerous threads on here about helping an egg bound chicken.

I found one of my chickens very listless this morning, not able to hold up her head or sit straight, curled up in a corner of the coop. Her breathing seemed normal, clear nose and mouth, not egg bound. Her normally bright red comb was pale. I did not feed yesterday my DH did, so I did not get to observe anything unusual until I found her like that this morning. She did roost in her normal place last night.

I called @CityFarm and she came over, we both decided to end her suffering. Thank you @CityFarm for helping me humanely dispatch my chicken! We did a necropsy, found normal looking digestive system, liver, heart, ovary and duct. No tumors. No visible pox. She had yesterday's veggies in her crop not today's and there wasn't much. The only thing we did find was black stuff in her lungs even though she was not gasping and was breathing normally. It was worse in the left lung.

If anyone can give any feedback on this I would greatly appreciate it! It almost looks like smoker's lung, but I'm not sure what caused it and if that was what really caused her to go downhill so fast.

Dang, I'm sorry that happened.

I was told not to use olive oil as it congeals but to use KY jelly. I told him to soak her in warm water and apply the KY to her vent. Also to give her calcium and always have layer feed available as well as crushed, baked eggshell and oyster shell. Hopefully, he won't have to resort to extracting the egg but told him how to do that as well. Sounded like she was passing the egg while I was on the phone with him so hopefully, she's on the road to recovery.
