Arizona Chickens

If you don't find a home for the tortoise, we'll take it. As long as it's native that is. We've had a native as a resident in our yard for 11 years. He was old when we became his custodians.

It needs to happen soon though. They will be getting ready for hibernation soon. your's needs to come here in the next week or so or wait until summer.

He is definitely non native. It's a 75 lb Sulcata.

Careful...this Arizona thread is all over the place. Before you know it, you will have goats, an aquaponics system, greenhouse, guineas, peafowl, miniature horses, milk cow, alpacas, how about an emu or ostrich :lau

My first real job was hauling tractors and equipment all over Texas. The owner of the company had Emu and I was basically his do all guy so they were my job too. Only the bad stuff like Med Checks and Vaccines. Lol I love any animal. There was an emu the other day on CL but I didn't like the price. I have to build a couple of shelters in 2 different paddocks before that. It's getting cooler though. I got a lot of work done this morning. It was beautiful out.

This applies to chickens as well, and I raise both. No need to raise turkeys:)  I was replying to a post. Sorry that you feel I hijacked the post. Yes, it is backyard chickens, and perhaps I need to start a site of my own for just turkeys. There are a lot of growers of both, and poultry questions in general belong in all.  I also raise all natural meat and egg ducks, but no you don't have to buy them too. :)

Problem is once I hear how cool they are, I want in.

Beautiful

I hatch, grow and process about 30 Narragansetts every year. I start the lights on the chickens in Oct and the turkeys in November...just about T-day. It takes the turkeys about a month to 6 weeks to start laying after the lights.

Thanks, nice to know how other people do it. I have 8 different turkey pens so setting up lights for all gets a little complicated.

There is a Turkey Talk for 2014 thread.

Dont worry, this thread frequently veers away from chickens. I'm a turkey grower as well so feel free to carry on.

Beautiful

I think turkeys are a lot more fun than chickens, although dumber. I was working in the yard this morning and every now and again I would gobble at them and they would answer back before I finished. Neighbors probably think I'm an idiot.

Whoa So did anyone think I was serious?

Keep it that way. People don't bother crazy people. Haha
