Arizona Chickens

In the past the map is given out on the day of the event when you go to a check in station.  This is the main reason I have never done it.

That stinks!  We live off the Sun Valley Parkway, so the East Valley is a loooong way to go for an unknown!  Maybe @K9Dave
can share this concern with the rest of the committee!

Same for me.  I told that to one of the directors a couple years ago.  Not going to pre pay for something that could have me driving an hour to see.

I live in the East Valley and the last time I went most of the coops were in Phoenix or North Phoenix so I only saw a few.  I understand why they would want to keep people's information safe, but they could give general locations ahead of time without risking the participants' safety.

They don't want to give out the exact addresses for the obvious but they could release a cross streets map. This will be the last time that I volunteer for them. I don't like to talk bad about people but I don't mind about an Org. Lol. They're very unorganized over there. A bit strange too.

I actually made a map with drop points on it for the coops that applied. I don't think there were any coops on the Ave side. Seems everything was south of 52nd at and t-bird and not very Far East. I hoped a member here's coops would be on it but was surprised that it wasn't going further east. If you don't live in Tempe, Mesa or South Scottsdale you're going to have to drive a bit. Seems like that's the idea anyway. It is supposed to be a kind of tour of the city and there's even a bycicle tour this year.

Ah geez, I thought this was gonna notify me as soon as someone replied, but it didn't work out exactly like that.

In any case, I'm in Mesa, I'll go all over the valley but Tucson is a bit far :-(

I'm on my phone so it's hard to read all the replies @_@

@a little chiken, what's your estimated hatch date, and are you more in my area? :-D *crossing fingers*

I attended the tour last year. We drove from I17 and Jomax area. The closest coop to us was in the Sunny slope area (7th street and Peoria area) We did a lot of driving. It was interesting to see the different ways people keep their chickens. Lots of interesting people. We didn't have any expectations but I won't do it again. I did get to see my first aquaponics set up which was really cool.

That was what the guy told me. They didn't want people showing up early. They could give cross streets so people have an idea at least. This could be so much bigger, especially if they opened it up to all valley coop owners.

All you guys in the Phx., Tucson, etc. area seem to be able to get chicks all year long from your local feed, tractor, etc. stores. We can only get chicks for a couple of months in the spring up in our area - April & May and maybe the first couple of weeks in June and that's it. Can't get any new chicks until next year, not that I need more chickens but I would have to drive all the way to Phx. if I did want some more this year.
