Arizona Chickens

Here is a good link on how to collect & storing your farm fresh egg's.. We keep ours out on the counter, refrigeration not needed.

I find if I have a crack egg, usually it's it's my fault and I still go eat it anyway, but boy does it sure makes me mad  at myself lol!
.....I put way too much energy and money into their organic feed for those chickies of mine just to let an egg that I cracked go to waste!

Did you and Sill have fun going to Tucson? !? I'd love to go with you 2 next time! :)

My car is full. If our van is done by then it woukd still be a tight fit. You just went down for fruit i thought
I haven't got a chance to meet anybody but desert Marcy in Tucson. So it would be fun to go....and I always like going places to meet people I didn't get to meet little chicken when she came up here cuz I had to go work unfortunately for me.

I am sure there will another time that I plan on going.. Don't know when

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I am thankful for my BCM's first egg today![
That's a big egg fir a first timer. congratulations
She laid another one today. It was about the same size but even darker! I'm very excited because this is my first dark egg layer. Now I have white, light brown, medium brown, dark brown, green, and blue/green. :weee Next will be an olive egger and another white because my leghorn is getting old. Now if they would just come out of molt and start laying again!!
That is too cool that it was darker. In my expierence they seem to get lighter as time goes by..

Just posting to see if anyone is interested in a pair of Black Bresse chickens. rooster is 2013 August hatch pullet is at point of lay. I hatched her Spring 2014 and she is from a different rooster line. I am asking $40. These are very good layers of medium to large size white eggs. Good behavior.

Thanks. Reed. I can post pics if anyone is interested. I'm in Gilbert

Yes please post photo's.. Do you have photo's of them when they were about 2 months old?
Did you ever get the moringa seed's? If not I will look threw the seed box and grab some for you before we take it to Tucson..

I had to finally cover my kiddie pool. My Easter eggers kept escaping. I'm going to have a mess to clean up once I get them out in their coop. I wonder how hard it is to remove chicken poop from carpet. LOL I think it would probably be easier to remove the carpet. Good thing its not important out there. Concrete floor and all that. The carpet was just pieces laid on top. I covered with with shade cloth to keep them from flying out. They will be moved to the coop in a week or so once I get my meat birds processed and out of the way.
They sure get good at escaping once they know they can! If the carpet is removable why not take it outside and just hang it up and hose it off? It can drip dry in the sun afterwards. If you do it in the morning it can have all day to dry, though it would take longer now than in the summer.

For not the first time I wish I could have a roo.

Just got 3 more little Easter Eggers. The feed store has them listed as Americaunas....... but you know how that goes.
The 6 1/2 month old girls, 1 EE and 2 RSL haven't laid yet. But we had a LOT of coyotes yipping in the yard for over a month, every night. Then the temps dropped. Last night Javelinas came in and destroyed all the flowers, knocked over the Cherub statue, ect...... They are in a smaller chain link fenced yard next to the house AND in their own coop & run...... but they don't know they are safe.
Hope they lay soon...... I know I know........ this summer I'll have eggs all over. But besides married kids and their kids..... we LOVE pickled eggs....... :) and cookies......... LOL make our own dog cookies too. Granddaughter has picked out the middle one as hers and named her Buttermilk, the other light one is Nugget and the dark one is Teriyaki. The older 3 are Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. DH named them. Says they will go on the smoker if they don't start laying...... :)

I have 1 large black silkie rooster(Ted) 1 small buff silkie rooster (Buckbeak) 1 white silkie rooster with a single comb (snowball) 1 brown red ameraucana rooster (blackbeard) 1 blue wyandotte hen (polly) 2 buff silkie hens (carly and karly) 1 white laced red cornish hen (banshee) and 1 red/buff easter egger hen with some silkie ancestry (pretty girl). the black silkie rooster is in his own cage the buff one is in a pen with my three geese and the rest of the chickens reside in the chicken coop which could fit a few more chickens no problem. my geese are scared of chickens because of my ameraucana rooster one day he jumped and kicked my big gander away who was trying to bite the ameraucanas tail feathers... i also have 1 chinese button quail (rusty), a male and a female kingsnake (tartarus and calypso) , a young night snake, a koi (spot) a female tarantula (rosy) and a puppy ( angel) my geese are a chinese pair (chitter and patches) and a pomeranian (chatter) chitter and chatter are under a year old and were raised together patches was rescued from the local overpopulated duck ponds and is an unknown age
