Arizona Chickens

Welcome! You'll find a wealth of information on this forum to help you learn about how to keep your birds healthy and happy in this climate!

Hello I'm new to the state ( in sierra vista) and had to leave my flock behind when I moved here from Alaska. Looking to start over and figure out what works best here ect

I've got pullets hatched this year and some older 1-/12 to 2-1/2 year old hens I'm selling to thin out before I start hatching again. Barred Plymouth Rock, Blue Copper Marans, possibly some Black Copper Marans, New Hampshire hens, maybe some Rhode Island Reds. I'm still trying to make decisions on which to use for breeding. I've had really good success with the Marans in our heat and it is cooler where you are, so they should all do okay given plenty of shade and water. PM me if interested for more details but they are all organically grown from hatch.

I finally have picture of my bantam Wyandotte pair I got the poultry show. They are so puffy and cute. I hope I can a couple more hens. I can't remember the name of the man I bought them from, but he had a high placing white call duck at the Tucson Poultry show a few weeks ago. Does anyone remember his name?

Thanks for the warm welcomes and advice everyone. Its greatly appreciated.
Also I am looking to go to a poultry show or auctions I'd there one website I should look at for those dates ect?

I might be interested in some Marans actually in a month or so. I've always admired the breed but never owned any!

I wear a dust mask now anytime I work with animal litter or my compost. It's just a good idea not to get that stuff into your lungs. Depending on the price I might be interested. Is there a web site where their products are listed? The nesting box herbs sound interesting. BTW my critters have been loving the Omega 3 forage blend grasses I got with you. Some of it is even starting to bloom! I have no idea what the plant with the white flowers is.
Wow yours came in really well! You can go to http://www.modestomilling.com/ for products. If you want to pm me your email I can send you a price sheet.
x2 very beautiful Sill! ....I like some of the bags I had bought off of desert Marcy back in August I believe from Modesto milling so I would be interested also. I do buy Big Sky currently which has a higher protein rating on the broiler feed at about 20 -22 percent. I just make that mash into fermented feed in extra large yogurt containers about 3 tubs worth.
