okay,,, okay! !..... you can include me on some of your donations when you're done picking your favorite chicken stuff, lol!
My Ancona ducklings are now out with the big girls and boys. I have to go out and make sure they figured out how to get back in the shed at dusk!
I have a small batch of barnyard mixes in the 'bator due on the 21st.
Is anyone getting chicken related items for Xmas? I got a gift certificate for Home Depot and am going to reinforce my coops.

...this is Chickles our infamous White Leghorn and she is still getting over fowl pox.
?? Does anybody know if neosporin without pain medicine would be okay to put on her comb to help heal that up?
I have some natural bee salve with comphrey in it that I could use in the meantime.

We are much the same with our Christmas goings-on, too. We all get together for dinner at the home of one of the kids where we do a White Elephant gift exchange. My DH and I do stockings for each other and then get something for "us" which can range anywhere from a new blu-ray player (last year) to having the seats in our "new" RV re-upholstered (this year), plus making our annual donations to our charities. All but one of the grandkids are in their teens or twenties, and they all get gift cards to Amazon, Best Buy, or Target, so the only actual shopping I have to do is for DH's stocking, the 3-yr-old granddaughter, token gifts for our kids (this year, Swarovski crystal ornaments), and for the White Elephant. It really takes the pressure off us all to not be so focused on the material aspects. Plus, I'm too old to be fighting the crowds at the mall!!We've reached the age now when most years we just buy what we want for ourselves for Xmas, and then focus on being with the family, being gluttonous, donating to those less fortunate, etc when actually celebrating the holiday. It has the advantage of allowing us to control our budget a bit better as the "holiday shopping" can occur well in advance of the actual date on the calendar and then enjoyed through the winter, allowing the expense to be spread out a bit more. Even my teenage son prefers it this way, asking this year to shop for clothing with his friends (instead of Mom & Dad...I guess our styles just aren't "cool" anymore) while on winter break for his Xmas present, and then we'll just spend the day with family and friends as we share love and laughter together. It actually reduces the stress of the season considerably.![]()
Still no eggs from my moulting gals or my point of lay youth. Any day for the young ones now. My 2nd barred rock is moulting hard core now. Her bottom and flanks are so bare that she's been sleeping in a nest box, I presume for warmth. The marans also went through a hard molt, and she did the nest box sleeping thing while her bare bottom grew in feathers--she's back to the roost now that she's fluffy and even more gorgeous (still no eggs, slacker).
There's a super small chance, but a chance nonetheless, that my husband bought me an incubator for xmas. There's a big box under the tree for me!
